This is an activity under the Health - Population Program of Lao Cai province, aiming to supplement the medical human resources in villages and hamlets in the province, especially in remote and isolated villages and hamlets, and ethnic minorities with many difficulties.
Village health workers play an important role in the primary health care system, undertaking many tasks, such as: Propagating and educating community health, maternal and child health care, family planning, first aid and care for common diseases. In particular, they also have the task of mobilizing and guiding people to grow and use traditional medicine at home to prevent and treat diseases, contributing to early detection of diseases for people.
Opening ceremony of training class for village health workers
The training program lasts 3 months according to the framework of the Ministry of Health . During this time, students are equipped with basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, factors affecting health and primary health care measures.
In addition, they will learn how to detect, prevent and treat common diseases at the village level, use essential medicines and herbal medicines safely and appropriately, as well as master health communication, counseling and education skills.
The training program is designed to combine theory at Lao Cai College and practice at medical facilities in the province. After completing the course, students will be awarded a certificate and assigned to work locally.
