The final scene of the tearful play "Blood-soaked Dong Noc Cang"

On the evening of July 30, the Youth World Theater of the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City performed the play "Blood of Dong Noc Nang" (Inspired by the script of the same name by playwright Pham Ngoc Truyen, young screenwriter Nguyen Bao Hoang, and director: Master Nguyen Hoa An).

Blood stained Dong Noc Nang - calling the soul of history

The audience, many famous artists, and teachers at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City enthusiastically cheered on the young actors' spirit in portraying the characters. They burned with passion and confidently and emotionally transformed into the fierce fates of the play.

The song resounded in the darkness of the stage like a historical call, leading the audience back to Noc Nang - the land of the Mekong Delta that once witnessed a bloody tragedy, where gentle farmers rose up against tyranny, leaving an immortal mark in Vietnamese history.

And last night, that painful yet indomitable story was once again lit up on stage, as the graduation play of the students of the Drama - Cinema Actors class K6D, University of Theatre and Cinema, Ho Chi Minh City.

Tears mixed with artistic ideals

Inspired by the script of the same name by playwright Pham Ngoc Truyen, young playwright Nguyen Bao Hoang has emotionally conveyed historical material into modern theater.

The play reenacts the Đồng Nốc Năng massacre in 1928 – one of the cruel historical wounds in the struggle to keep land of Southern farmers. It is also a voice praising the spirit of uprising of the Vietnamese people against tyranny, through the humane lens of today's young generation of artists.

The play "Blood of Dong Noc Nang" brings overwhelming emotions to the audience with the confident and genuine performance of the young actors.

Attending the event were Associate Professor Dr. Tran Yen Chi, Meritorious Artist Huy Thuc, Meritorious Artist Cao Duc Xuan Hong, Director Cao Tan Loc, Master Ho Hong Tham... and many artists and actors who expressed their joy at the effort to transform into a script that is very psychological, requiring high concentration to clearly convey the work's ideas.

"Blood of Dong Noc Nang" through this production is the crystallization of the journey of learning, training and maturing of a future generation of actors.

When young people dialogue with history

Amidst the trend of theater increasingly focusing on entertainment, the fact that students chose a thorny historical topic with heavy political content for their graduation play shows a valuable spirit: the spirit of dedication and responsibility to the flow of national culture and history.

This is even more encouraging when young faces such as: Can Truong (Tam Luong), Yen Nhi (Mrs. Tam Luong), Luu Phat, Gia Han, Khoa Du, Lam Nhi, Nhi Nguyen... are not intimidated by roles that require deep inner expression and require tight emotional control.

The performances depicting innocent and genuine rural love captivated the audience. The performances using martial arts, dancing, and performing folk songs were also enthusiastically applauded.

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Yen Chi (right cover) went on stage to present flowers to congratulate the young actors after completing the play "Blood of Dong Noc Nang"

The audience coming to the play is led into an emotional story, touching the heart through every look, movement, and line. They live with the characters and "on behalf of the ancients" recount a heroic history of their ancestors in protecting the land and the country.

The play "Blood on Dong Noc Cang" - maturity from the lights to the heart

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Yen Chi commented: "Blood of Dong Noc Nang" is an important milestone for class K6D - a generation of students who are closing their art studies and opening their career journey amidst countless difficulties.

They entered the stage from the days of confusion, broken voices in front of empty auditoriums, trembling when facing the first character. Now, they stride confidently, understanding what it means to "stand on the shoulders of giants" when receiving national heritage to transform into works of great contemporary significance.

Yen Nhi (Mrs. Tam Luong) and Can Truong (Tam Luong) brought tears to the audience in the play "Blood-soaked Dong Noc Nang"

Just like the iconic roles in the movie "Dat rung phuong Nam" that made many generations of audiences cry, "Mau dam Dong Noc Nang" revives pain and pride, in another form - the stage.

There are no special effects, no retakes. There is only the artist, the character, and the living connection with the audience through every breath.

The scenery of the Southern countryside is portrayed in a rustic and genuine way, sowing emotions in the hearts of viewers when they remember the play "Blood-soaked Dong Noc Nang".

Gratitude to the precious teachers of the young generation

The appearance of young actors in this play is a tribute to the homeland and history, and also a brave greeting to teachers in the theater life that needs to cooperate like today. If Dong Noc Nang is a heroic testament to the indomitable spirit, then yesterday's K6D class demonstrated the vitality of the art of theater - an art that does not retreat before the times.

Young actors participating in the play "Blood on the Field" happily received cheers from the audience.

"Blood of Dong Noc Nang" is the promise of a generation of young actors to continue telling the stories of their people - with heart, talent and even flesh and blood if necessary.
