Rodrygo has been linked with a move to the Premier League after falling out of Xabi Alonso's plans at Real Madrid. Man City have emerged as a strong contender to bolster Pep Guardiola 's squad.

However, according to the latest update from Spanish football transfer expert Guillem Balague, Man City may have ended their interest in Rodrygo.
The reason, Man City signing Rodrygo depends on the situation of Savinho, who is said to really want to move to Tottenham after only 1 season at Etihad.
But now, Pep Guardiola and Man City have decided to keep Savinho. That means the possibility of Rodrygo arriving at Etihad is no longer, creating an opportunity for other teams in the Premier League to pursue the Real Madrid star in the final days of the summer transfer window in 2025.
In the summer transfer window, Man City added Tijjani Reijnders , Rayan Ait-Nouri, James Trafford and Rayan Cherki, all of whom made their debuts in the home team's opening match of the 2025/26 Premier League, a 4-0 win over Wolves.

Pep Guardiola then made a statement about Man City's transfer - streamlining the current squad: " We have too many players. On the bench there is still Nathan Ake and Ilkay Gundogan.
I would like to have a deeper squad to compete in all competitions, but I don't want to leave my players at home. That's not healthy, it doesn't create a good atmosphere to compete."
In the opening match, Ederson was absent, and is said to be in negotiations to join Galatasaray, while Savinho was retained by Man City as reported above, while Pep Guardiola also thinks Rico Lewis will not leave Etihad.
The Spanish strategist stated his opinion: " If a player wants to leave, he can leave, but he must comply with the club's terms.
The owners paid other teams to sign them, but we don't want to keep players who are not happy here. The final decision is up to the club. I don't know what will happen in the remaining days of the summer transfer window ."
