Immediately after receiving support from Coteccons Construction Joint Stock Company, the People's Committee of Thach Hoa Commune (old) developed a plan, project, and budget for planting native trees, medicinal plants, vegetables, and tubers under the forest canopy and worked with households to plan the planting areas. In addition, the People's Committee also provided additional funding and instructed people on techniques for land preparation, planting, and care.
Accordingly, 10 hectares of forest (8,000 trees) of native trees were planted along the foot of Hung hill, Thiet Son village 1, including: Lat hoa, gao vang, lim xanh... with the participation of 36 households. Coteccons Construction Joint Stock Company supported the people with 870 million VND to build a section of graded road, buy tree seedlings, prepare soil, fertilize, protect and care for them. Up to this point, the native forest has basically survived and developed quite well.

After planting native trees, in early 2024, Coteccons Construction Joint Stock Company continued to provide funding to plant 4 hectares of Solanum procumbens with the participation of 34 households. After a period of planting and caring, Solanum procumbens has yielded 222 kg of seeds, 6,780 kg of stems and leaves, selling for nearly 95 million VND. In addition, some households also intensively cultivate other crops..., giving high productivity and economic efficiency.
Mr. Nguyen Van Su, in Thiet Son village 1, Tuyen Phu commune, excitedly shared: “With financial and technical support, I planted 5 sao of native plants. When the plants took root, I continued to plow the soil, weed, and fertilize to plant Solanum procumbens and taro on the forested area. Right in the first crop, Solanum procumbens and taro helped my family earn over 25 million VND. Currently, on that land, I replant turmeric, and I fence off a part of the land to grow grass for cows to eat, and next year I will continue to plant taro.”
Mr. Tran Dai, in Thiet Son village 1, shared: “As a retired Forest Ranger, when I heard that Coteccons Construction Joint Stock Company and the Commune People's Committee were implementing the planting of native forests to expand the habitat for the white-cheeked langurs, I was very excited. After planting native trees, I prepared the land and planted 2 sao of potatoes. Currently, the potatoes have yielded over 1 ton of tubers, selling for 10 million VND. In addition, the area of cassava and some other crops is also preparing for harvest...”.
It can be affirmed that the model of planting native trees combined with medicinal plants, vegetables and tubers has brought double benefits to dozens of people in Thiet Son village 1, Tuyen Phu commune, contributing to increasing income and creating jobs. At the same time, it improves the environment, prevents erosion, expands the territory for the rare white-cheeked langur and the source of precious wood for future generations...
Chairman of Tuyen Phu Commune People's Committee Phan Thanh Phuong said: "The model of planting native trees in combination with other types of trees has shown its effectiveness on the same unit of production land area. To expand the model, in the coming time, the Commune People's Committee will continue to call for support sources, expand the area of native forest planting, and convert suitable crops during the time when the forest canopy has not closed to create jobs and increase income for people."
