Spring worship ceremony at Tu Luong communal house

On the morning of March 21 (February 12 of the lunar calendar), Tu Luong communal house (Duc Long ward, Phan Thiet city) held a Spring ceremony to thank the village guardian spirit and ancestors who had great contributions in the early days of reclaiming land, establishing the village and building the communal house.

At the ceremony, the officiating groups such as the Chief Priest, the Assistant Priest, the octet team, and the students in formal attire took turns performing rituals in order to pray for the local tutelary deity, the ancestors, and the descendants to bless and protect people with favorable weather and wind, and for people's lives to be peaceful and happy.

The ritual department organizes the worship ceremony according to traditional rituals.

Tu Luong Communal House was built in the early 19th century and completely restored in the 24th year of Tu Duc (1871) to worship the local tutelary god, the ancestors and descendants. In general, the communal house still retains its original features from the architectural structure, construction techniques, to the decorative art on the roof, all clearly showing the characteristics of traditional folk architecture. In particular, the art of sculpture and carving on the altars, incense tables, and the interior decoration all follow the folk conventions associated with the customs and beliefs of contemporary society.

Tu Luong Temple still preserves many royal decrees bestowed by the Nguyen Dynasty kings.

Tu Luong communal house still preserves many ancient relics, including valuable Han Nom heritage, including 10 royal decrees bestowed by the Nguyen Dynasty kings and village regulations carved on wood. Every year, two main ceremonies take place here on the occasion of Spring and Autumn: Spring worship on February 12 and Autumn worship on August 12 of the lunar calendar, expressing the morality of drinking water and remembering its source, the respect and gratitude of descendants to their ancestors. At the same time, it is an opportunity for people to review the tradition of labor, struggle and the merits of their ancestors.

The communal house was ranked as a national architectural and artistic relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information in Decision No. 38/2001/QD-BVHTT dated July 12, 2001.
