Also present were Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture andEducation ; Mr. Le Tien Chau, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee and leaders of departments, ministries, branches and localities.
At the opening ceremony, all delegates, athletes and working forces took 1 minute to commemorate and express gratitude for the contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the education sector and all people.
In his opening speech, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that in order to contribute to maintaining and promoting the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", encouraging students to regularly practice and compete in sports, improve health, develop physical strength, train the will to rise up, contribute to moral education, personality, and comprehensive human development, the National Phu Dong Sports Festival is organized by the Ministry of Education and Training every four years.
This is a competition to discover, nurture and train sports talents for the country, an opportunity for sports talents among students nationwide to demonstrate, and an opportunity for localities to develop sports talents for their localities.
According to Minister Nguyen Kim Son, after more than 40 years of implementation with 10 times of organization, the 2024 National Phu Dong Sports Festival is the largest school Sports Festival ever.
Mr. Son assigned the task to all student athletes, referees and organizers to ensure that the 10th National Phu Dong Sports Festival takes place safely, honestly, bravely, and nobly with the highest educational spirit, as well as hoping that students will consider this an opportunity to learn rather than seek awards, and to show their best self rather than winning or losing.
At the same time, we hope that parents, teachers, team leaders and coaches will have appropriate attitudes and demonstrate an educational spirit in all situations, not turning adults' desire for achievement into pressure, competitiveness or damaging the children's spirit.
