On August 6, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province submitted a document to the Provincial People's Committee requesting investment policy to repair the road connecting National Highway 28 and Provincial Road 725, in Phuc Tho Lam Ha commune.

The route proposed by the Department of Construction for upgrading is about 5 km long, connecting Km 128+330 of National Highway 28 with Km 63+910 of Provincial Road 725. This rural traffic route currently consists of 2.4 km of cement concrete road (3.5 m wide) and 2.6 km of degraded gravel road.

According to Lam Dong Department of Construction, if this route is upgraded and repaired, passenger vans, trucks, and cars will be able to travel easily; at the same time, the distance from Da Lat to Gia Nghia (the center of the old Dak Nong province) will be shortened by about 20 km, to about 160 km.

Once completed, the project will ensure smooth traffic, serving the travel and social development of the area. The route will help reduce the time for vehicles traveling in the direction of Da Lat - Gia Nghia and vice versa.

The Department of Construction leader said that the unit has advised the Provincial People's Committee to use the local budget to build this project. The total estimated investment of the project is 12 billion VND and will be implemented in 2025 - 2026.

The road from Gia Nghia to Da Lat is narrow and has many sections at risk of landslides.

The distance from Gia Nghia to Da Lat is currently over 180 km. Vehicles must travel along National Highway 28 from Gia Nghia to Di Linh and then can choose National Highway 20 or Provincial Road 725 to reach Da Lat.

Many people prefer to take Provincial Road 725 because the distance is shorter and traffic is more open. Travel time along this route is about 3.5 - 4 hours.

Some vehicles traveling from Gia Nghia to Da Lat or vice versa have researched and chosen to take a shortcut through 5 km of village road, estimated to shorten the trip by about 30 minutes compared to going along National Highway 28. However, many people familiar with this route recommend not to travel during the rainy season to ensure safety because some sections are damaged, degraded and at risk of landslides.

According to Lam Dong Department of Construction, when arranging administrative units, the traffic volume between Da Lat and Gia Nghia is increasing. Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Construction to urgently inspect and review to repair traffic routes, especially key traffic routes; including connecting sections that contribute to shortening the distance between the two localities.
