Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that immediately after the province's merger in July 2025, it quickly issued resolutions, developed growth scenarios for the last 6 months of the year and assigned specific tasks to each industry and field. The drastic and timely approach has created a positive effect, spreading to the business community and investors.
After the merger, Lam Dong's economy accelerated significantly.
In August alone, the province had 655 newly established enterprises with a total registered capital of over VND3,138 billion. In the first 8 months of the year, the number of new enterprises reached 2,216 units, an increase of 40% over the same period.
This is a strong step forward, demonstrating the recovery and confidence of the business community in an increasingly open and transparent investment and business environment. Along with that, the province has approved the policy for 37 new investment projects with a total capital of nearly 13,707 billion VND.
To date, Lam Dong has 2,934 valid investment projects with a total capital of about 2 million billion VND. These figures show that investment capital is spreading strongly, contributing to job creation, increasing budget revenue and promoting sustainable local economic development.
The industrial sector also recorded many positive signals. The industrial production index (IIP) in August increased by 9.64%, and the cumulative increase in the first 8 months was 4.11%. Industrial zones in the province have attracted 6 more projects, including one FDI project, with a total capital of 452 billion VND and 35 million USD. This is a testament to the attractiveness of Lam Dong to both domestic and foreign investors.
In the field of trade and services, total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the first 8 months reached VND 165,032 billion, up 11.8% over the same period. In particular, export turnover reached 2.147 billion USD, up 64.7% over the same period in 2024. This is a bright spot, affirming production and processing capacity and the ability to make good use of free trade agreements to expand the market.
Tourism also accelerated strongly. In August, the province welcomed 1.96 million visitors, an increase of more than 29% over the same period, including more than 74,000 international visitors. In the first 8 months, Lam Dong welcomed nearly 13.5 million visitors, an increase of more than 16%, including more than 840,000 international visitors, an increase of more than 33%.
Regarding the budget, total revenue by the end of August reached VND21,712 billion, equal to 81% of the central budget estimate, while total local budget expenditure reached VND27,661 billion, equal to 61% of the estimate. This result shows that the province's financial foundation is quite solid, ensuring effective spending management and having room for key tasks in the last months of the year.
With positive results in the first 8 months of the year, it shows that businesses and the economy are becoming the “dual pillars” for Lam Dong after the merger. If it continues to maintain the growth momentum and promptly resolves obstacles, Lam Dong will not only achieve the 2025 targets but also affirm its position as a dynamic and attractive development pole of the Central Highlands and South Central regions.
