BHG - Ha Giang is witnessing a "change of skin, change of flesh" every day thanks to key strategic projects. From regional connecting highways to sports complexes, dams to create landscapes, inter-district and inter-commune traffic infrastructure works - all are expected to not only change the local appearance but also improve people's lives, creating a solid foundation for long-term socio-economic development.
As a key project added by the Prime Minister to the list of national and transport projects under Decision No. 1166/QD-TTg dated October 10, 2023, the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang expressway (phase 1) through Ha Giang province is expected to be a "lever" to open the way for the province's economy . This project is being implemented on schedule with a total implementation volume reaching 65.4%, of which site clearance has been completed 100% along the entire route of over 27 km, a positive result in the context of complex terrain in the highlands. People in localities where the expressway passes through are placing high expectations on this project. "We hope to have a highway to facilitate trade, no more stuck trucks during the rainy season, and safer for children going to school far away," said Ms. Hoang Thi Van, a resident of Quang Minh commune.
Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang Expressway Project (phase 1) is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. |
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, which is great news for the people, and at the same time helps Ha Giang "get closer" to major economic centers, reduce the cost of transporting agricultural products, attract investment and promote tourism development. Not stopping there, the project has just been decided to upgrade from 2 lanes to 4 lanes, the design speed increased from 80km/h to 100km/h, suitable for mountainous terrain and national standard TCVN 5729:2012. The total adjusted investment is up to over 5 trillion VND, in which the central budget plays a leading role. This upgrade not only demonstrates a long-term vision but also opens up the future of a modern, safe transportation system, serving inter-regional economic development.
Comrade Ha Thi Minh Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said: "Adjusting to suit development requirements, the 100km/h highway will be a "lever" for Ha Giang to break through, avoid being isolated during the rainy season and significantly improve economic growth rate".
The construction unit speeds up progress, striving to complete the Provincial Sports and Cultural Complex project by July 2025. |
In addition to transportation, the province is also interested in the sports and culture sector with the implementation of the Provincial Sports and Cultural Complex project (phase 1). The stadium project with a capacity of up to 10,000 seats, along with the accompanying traffic system and technical infrastructure, is gradually taking shape. Up to now, the project has reached 83.6% of the total volume, of which the construction and installation value accounts for nearly 84% of the contract value. The project is expected to be completed in July 2025, contributing to improving the cultural and sports life of the people, especially the youth.
Mr. Hoang Van Cuong, high-performance sports coach - Ha Giang Sports Training and Competition Center, shared: "We are looking forward to the completion of this sports complex to have a modern training place, organize tournaments, contribute to improving the physical strength and spirit of the young generation, especially handball - a sport that Ha Giang is strong in and has had athletes win the Seagames Gold Medal".
One of the projects that has received much attention is the Water Dam Project to create a landscape in the center of Ha Giang city, with a total investment adjusted to 330.29 billion VND; the project is not only valuable in terms of technology but also highly aesthetic, helping to form a lake surface nearly 6 km long along the Lo River - the city center. The water dam combined with the traffic bridge is 122.5m long, 18m wide, designed for a speed of 50km/h, connecting the Southern belt road axis with National Highway 2. To date, the construction progress has reached 62.4% of the total volume, with the construction volume reaching over 70% of the contract value.
The project of Dam to create city landscape is being accelerated. |
Notably, this project is in the process of selecting an operating unit and applying for a license to exploit surface water in accordance with regulations. With a reservoir of 2.2 million m³, the project not only regulates floods but is also an architectural highlight, a tourist attraction and a community living space for urban residents.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut - a coffee trader near the Lo River, expressed: "When the dam is completed, with a lake, trees, and a beautiful pedestrian bridge, there will definitely be more tourists coming here, making business more convenient. People will also have a place to walk and relax after work."
Although Ha Giang has been administratively merged with Tuyen Quang province, for the people here, the land at the head of the country still holds a special value in terms of culture, history, people and aspirations to rise up. The above key projects are not just simple construction works but strategic steps, creating new positions and strengths for Ha Giang. Modern infrastructure will gradually erase geographical differences, enhance competitiveness, promote services, trade and sustainable development for the locality.
