On the evening of September 2, in a solemn atmosphere, the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary solemnly celebrated the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) in the capital Budapest.
The ceremony was attended by nearly 600 guests, including Vice President of the National Assembly István Jakab, representatives of the Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, leaders of the Committees and Members of the National Assembly, leaders of ministries, branches, localities, heads of diplomatic missions, international organizations, local businesses and a large number of Vietnamese people in Hungary.
The event is an opportunity to review the heroic and glorious history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people since the day President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at the historic Ba Dinh Square in 1945.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Bui Le Thai emphasized the great historical significance of the success of the August Revolution in 1945 and September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; affirming the sacred and inviolable rights of every nation: The right to life, the right to freedom and the right to pursue happiness - are universal values of humanity; President Ho Chi Minh's immortal saying "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom" has become the guiding principle and invaluable spiritual strength for the Vietnamese people to overcome all sacrifices and hardships, protect and build a peaceful , independent, developed and integrated Vietnam as it is today.
Ambassador Bui Le Thai affirmed that after 80 years of construction and development, Vietnam has grown strongly, carried out the Renovation process and deeply integrated into the international community, becoming one of the leading dynamically developing economies in the region, with an increasingly high position in the international arena.
The past 80 years are a vivid testament to the will of self-reliance, national solidarity and the aspiration for peace, progress and development of the Vietnamese people.

Ambassador Bui Le Thai emphasized that during the process of construction and development, Vietnam always appreciates the valuable companionship, sharing and support of international friends, including Hungary. Over the past 75 years, Vietnam and Hungary have together cultivated a fine traditional friendship, constantly deepening substantive cooperation in all fields.
The bilateral relationship has become a model of trust, solidarity and effective cooperation. The two countries regularly exchange high-level visits, especially in 2025 with the visits to Vietnam by the President, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary and in October by the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, thereby contributing to strongly promoting and deepening the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Government and the Hungarian Parliament, Mr. István Jakab, Vice President of the Hungarian Parliament, congratulated Vietnam on the great and historic achievements since the country was founded in 1945, especially since Vietnam began its Doi Moi and international integration; expressing pride that on Vietnam's journey of construction and development, Hungary has always accompanied Vietnam and made positive contributions.
Vice President of the National Assembly István Jakab highly appreciated the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, especially cooperation between the two countries' legislative bodies, affirming that the visit to Vietnam in October by the President of the Hungarian National Assembly will certainly further deepen all-round relations between the two countries, especially cooperation between the two National Assemblies.
Mr. István Jakab also expressed his appreciation for the role of the Vietnamese community in Hungary, which has made many contributions to the socio-economic development of Hungary as well as to the friendship between the two peoples, and affirmed that Hungary will continue to create more favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to integrate deeply into the host society to contribute more to the relationship between the two countries.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, Ambassador Bui Le Thai expressed his deep gratitude to the Government and people of Hungary for always giving sincere and valuable support to Vietnam through the periods, from the struggle to liberate the South, unify the country to the reconstruction, development and Doi Moi period today, and affirmed that the Government and people of Vietnam always attach importance to and wish to further develop the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Hungary.
Ambassador Bui Le Thai also expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese community in Hungary - the "people's ambassadors" who silently built bridges between the two peoples.
The ceremony ended in a warm and affectionate atmosphere with many special performances, traditional Vietnamese and Hungarian dishes, along with video clips and photo exhibitions about 80 years of building and developing Vietnam, 80 years of Vietnamese diplomacy, 75 years of Vietnam-Hungary relations, introducing tourism, cuisine, culture, country and people of Vietnam.
The celebration of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day in Budapest left many deep impressions in the hearts of international friends and the Vietnamese community in Hungary, adding motivation for the two countries to continue to write new pages in the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Hungary.
