Kim Tu Long brings Vietnamese historical figures to the tourism stage

During the opening night of the 19th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair, artist Kim Tu Long performed the reformed opera Tinh hoa di han.

Kim Tu Long meets Ngo Quyen again

The Quintessence of Heritage was written by musician Minh Tam. Mr. Minh Tam is the younger brother of People's Artist Thanh Tong and the uncle of Kim Tu Long's wife.

The performance, directed by Kim Tu Long himself, was the only reformed opera performance of the night, with the hope of giving international friends a brief look at reformed opera and prominent figures in Vietnamese history.

Kim Tu Long plays the character Ngo Quyen. This is the character he played in the performance Song noi Bach Dang giang in the live show Thien Duong toi yeu in 2011 at Ben Thanh Theater.

In this short scene, Kim Tu Long sings with artists in his wife's family, the famous Minh To Opera Troupe, and his close artists and students.

Kim Tu Long's wife, artist Trinh Trinh, plays Trieu Thi Trinh. Tu Suong plays the role of Queen Mother Duong Van Nga, reenacting the scene of giving the royal robe to General Le Hoan.

Kim Tu Long's two brothers-in-law, Dien Trung and Le Thanh Thao, recall the image of Nguyen Trai and Bui Thi Xuan.

In particular, young actor Trong Nhan, who calls Kim Tu Long his adoptive grandfather, continues to receive the opportunity from Kim Tu Long to portray the Vietnamese historical figure Nguyen Hue.

At the April 30th ceremony, Trong Nhan was also allowed by his grandfather Kim Tu Long to appear in an excerpt of the reformed opera Ly Thuong Kiet .

Trong Nhan was praised by Kim Tu Long as a talented, quick-witted and hard-working young artist, so when he had the chance, he taught Trong Nhan to help him progress quickly.

Kim Tu Long wants to make a Vietnamese historical opera

Not only portraying Vietnamese historical characters on stage, Kim Tu Long is also the producer and director of many Vietnamese historical cai luong plays such as Thanh kiem va nu tuong, Rang ngoc Con Son, Tieng trong Me Linh, Hao kiet Lam Son ...

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Kim Tu Long said he really likes to make Vietnamese historical opera because our nation has very good Vietnamese historical stories, with many famous generals and historical figures who are not only famous in the country but also known around the world .

People often assume that historical plays are dry and difficult to sell tickets, but Kim Tu Long is confident that he can balance historical elements and know how to push the tempo, making the play attractive. He said: "I have had the opportunity to rub shoulders with the market a lot, so I think I understand the audience's tastes. That helps me create historical plays in a way that is easily accessible to the public, especially young people."

What he worries about is that there are few good Vietnamese historical cai luong scripts. He confided that if he finds a good, suitable script, he is willing to invest in producing historical cai luong.

Kim Tu Long still cherishes the idea of ​​holding a live show for his wife, artist Trinh Trinh. To him, his wife is a talented artist, however, because she chooses a quiet lifestyle, her reputation remains modest.

If he does a live show for his wife, Kim Tu Long wants to include many excerpts from Vietnamese historical opera because the Minh To family owns many very good Vietnamese historical opera scripts.
