Responding to this issue, technicians at the event “Exchange gasoline cars for electric cars” emphasized: Electric motorbikes today use lithium-ion batteries with pre-programmed battery management systems. If users change the configuration or attach an incompatible external battery, it will break safety standards, easily leading to electrical short circuits, overheating or explosion.
In fact, there have been unfortunate incidents where electric scooters spontaneously combusted while parked at home. A typical example was the fire that broke out on the evening of July 29 at a house in Tan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. An electric scooter that was not plugged in suddenly caught fire, forcing the entire family to climb over the balcony to a neighbor's house to escape. The initial cause was suspected to be related to the vehicle's battery system.
The Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security also warned that when an electric vehicle battery catches fire, it is very difficult to handle, it can smolder and flare up again. If you use a substandard battery of unknown origin, the risk is even higher.
People are advised to choose genuine vehicles with batteries that meet international inspection standards, and absolutely do not arbitrarily replace the battery or install additional external parts. Saving money in the short term is not worth trading off the safety of yourself and your family.
