"Today (November 16), the Admiral Golovko frigate of the Northern Fleet, on a long-range deployment mission, passed through the Strait of Gibraltar and entered the Mediterranean," the press office said in a statement.

In the Mediterranean, the crew of this missile destroyer will perform tasks as part of the regular forces of the Russian Navy.

Earlier in the Atlantic Ocean, the crew practiced hunting and tracking a simulated enemy submarine, in coordination with the crew of the Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopter stationed on the ship's deck.

Sailors also practiced skills in protecting ships from enemy torpedoes while moving at sea, using computer simulations of tactical situations and destroying simulated enemy torpedo attacks.

Anti-submarine teams carry out operations according to the prescribed time to detect attacking torpedoes and destroy them with interceptor weapons.

The Admiral Golovko frigate began its long-distance voyage on November 2 from the Northern Fleet’s main naval base in Severomorsk. In total, the missile frigate has traveled about 3,000 nautical miles.
