On the morning of September 18, the ASEAN Capital Mayors' Conference (MGMAC) and the ASEAN Mayors' Forum (AMF) took place in Vientiane, Laos.

In his opening speech, Mr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Mayor of Vientiane, said that MGMAC and AMF, which have been held since 2012, have become forums for local leaders to meet and exchange information; strengthen and tighten the cooperative relationship between capitals and cities in ASEAN; and jointly study ways to solve and handle common problems and challenges...

This conference, with the slogan “Enhancing connectivity and self-reliance for sustainable development of ASEAN cities”, focuses on 5 main areas such as livable and sustainable cities, green tourism, sustainable economic development, sustainable environmental cities, etc.

This is an opportunity for all parties to contribute to promoting development, exchanging good lessons to jointly solve various urban problems, along with organizing and implementing work plans and action plans to realize the commitment of ASEAN cities in promoting connectivity and self-reliance for sustainable development of ASEAN capitals and ASEAN cities.
