The annual forum attracts the attention and participation of more than 2,000 domestic and international delegates, becoming one of the largest annual forums on Industry 4.0 in Vietnam.

This is a broad forum for central and local departments, ministries and branches to report, exchange, discuss, propose and recommend mechanisms and policies so that the implementation of resolutions is truly effective, put into practice, creating a connection channel between the Party's strategic advisory agencies on socio -economics with state management agencies, localities, business communities, domestic and international experts... in implementing the Party and State's guidelines and policies.

The Forum includes a plenary session co-chaired and organized by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Central Economic Commission, and representatives of the National Assembly. Along with that is a series of 4 thematic seminars co-chaired and organized by leaders of central ministries and branches. This year's Forum has nearly 30 key reports from ministries, branches, international organizations, the business community, and highly reputable experts and scientists with about 2,000 delegates attending, including many international delegates and businesses.

Many international experts attended the forum

At the first thematic workshop with the theme "Improving smart manufacturing capacity and developing the digital technology industry towards Make in Vietnam", Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission Nguyen Hong Son emphasized that Resolution 29-NQ/TW of the 13th Party Central Committee (on continuing to promote the country's industrialization and modernization to 2030, with a vision to 2045) is the first thematic resolution of the Party on industrialization and modernization. The resolution is an important political basis for building new mechanisms and policies to promote the industrialization and modernization process, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's development goals set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW has identified the core content of the country's industrialization and modernization in the 2021-2030 period as promoting the strong application of science and technology, innovation, especially the achievements of the fourth industrial revolution; creating breakthroughs in productivity, quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of industries, fields, and the entire economy; implementing comprehensive, substantive, effective, and sustainable digital transformation; considering digital transformation as a new breakthrough method to shorten the industrialization and modernization process. Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW also identifies the digital technology industry as one of the six fundamental industries, in which smart manufacturing on the 5G network platform is the core of the digital technology industry.

According to Ericsson Group's forecast, by 2025, the Asia-Pacific region will attract two-thirds of global manufacturers, with smart manufacturing leading the way. Currently, seven countries in the region, including Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, have deployed the production of 5G smart technology devices. Vietnam is also considered by Ericsson as an attractive destination with revenue from the 5G industry estimated at 1.54 billion USD by 2030.

Vietnam is also ranked in the group of digital technology consumer economies among 40 economies actively pursuing Industry 4.0. Of which, Vietnam's digital equipment and technology imports ranked 15th, technology exports ranked 46th and patent activities ranked 48th out of 150 economies.

However, according to a World Bank study published in November 2021, in Vietnam's manufacturing industry, 70% of products are created using human-controlled machines, 20% are handmade, only 9% use computer-controlled machines and less than 1% use more advanced technologies such as robots and 3D additive manufacturing. Only a small portion of Vietnamese enterprises participate in innovation activities. It can be seen that the development of smart manufacturing in Vietnam is facing many intertwined opportunities, difficulties and challenges.

Therefore, promoting the shift from assembly and processing to product manufacturing in the direction of Make in Vietnam; innovating in Vietnam, designing in Vietnam and manufacturing in Vietnam; developing and mastering production technology, promoting R&D; developing creative industries and digital content ecosystems in Vietnam; policies to support businesses, especially traditional businesses and manufacturing businesses, to transform to smart manufacturing, providing products and services on digital platforms... are issues that need special attention in the current context.

At the workshop "Digital transformation and green transformation of the service industry in the process of industrialization and modernization to 2030, vision to 2045", Mr. Pham Tien Dung, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, said that the banking industry has issued a digital transformation plan quite early, a project to develop green banking. Currently, about 72-73% of adults have bank accounts. "There cannot be a perfect public service if people do not have bank accounts and still use a lot of cash. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the proportion of people with bank accounts, especially the disadvantaged," Mr. Pham Tien Dung shared.
