According to several sources, Hyundai has decided to continue developing the Elantra with an internal combustion engine rather than switching to pure electric as part of its revised electrification plan. This allows the car to retain its traditional identity while waiting for new electric platforms to be ready. Keeping the Elantra as a completely refreshed gasoline-hybrid sedan shows that Hyundai still sees potential in the small sedan segment, especially in markets outside of Europe.

Based on the rendering, the new generation Elantra has a modern, sharp and futuristic appearance. The front of the car impresses with a seamless horizontal LED strip, combined with an "L" shaped headlight cluster recessed in a large triangular light cavity, creating a striking lighting effect. The "Parametric Dynamics" design language continues to be fully exploited, expressed through strong and angular geometric lines, especially in the front bumper and air vents.
The body of the car has a coupe-like appearance with a long roofline, creating a sporty and dynamic look. Details such as the angular rearview mirrors, eye-catching 5-spoke alloy wheels with Kumho i'Zen EV tires - a high-performance tire for electric and hybrid vehicles - further highlight the Elantra CN8's forward-looking design language.

Notably, the rear wheel arches are treated more muscularly, reminiscent of the muscle car style, a unique highlight in the C-class sedan segment. Despite the comprehensive design change, the powertrain of the new generation Elantra is expected to have few changes. The car will continue to use current engine options such as the 1.6L gasoline engine, LPG version and hybrid powertrain - all of which will be slightly tweaked to improve performance and fuel consumption.

The Hyundai Elantra CN8 is expected to officially launch globally in 2026. With a groundbreaking design, inspired by concept supercars and a philosophy of retaining the familiar powertrain, the new generation Elantra promises to redefine the image of small sedans, while maintaining its appeal in a market that is gradually shifting to electric vehicles.
