Despite winning against U23 Singapore in the second match, Group C, 2026 AFC U23 Championship Qualifiers on the evening of September 6, coach Kim Sang-sik was still not satisfied with the finishing of U23 Vietnam.

“Today’s match did not have many goals and there is not much to say. Viet Tri Stadium had a lot of spectators today and I feel very happy about that. Everyone can see that there were many opportunities but their goalkeeper played very well, we will try to improve our finishing,” coach Kim Sang-sik said about the match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Singapore.

Facing the youngest team in Group C of U23 Singapore, U23 Vietnam struggled to win. Dominating the game for most of the match, it was not until the 79th minute that U23 Vietnam scored to bring home 3 points thanks to Van Thuan's goal.

Coach Kim Sang-sik's players created many opportunities but also missed many. Their final shots were repeatedly off target, or were denied by the crossbar and post. The Korean strategist emphasized that this is something that U23 Vietnam must improve when entering the final match with U23 Yemen.

“We will analyze carefully and prepare for the match with U23 Yemen. With the current quality of the team, I am confident that we can win against them. U23 Yemen’s defense is very good, but U23 Vietnam has fast players who can exploit the space behind,” he affirmed.

Also attending the post-match press conference, the best player of the match Nguyen Van Truong shared about the 5 unsuccessful shots of U23 Vietnam: “In football, being unlucky is normal. We had many opportunities but did not convert them into goals. In the final match, everyone will continue to win and I hope everyone will come to cheer more.”

In the final match on September 9, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Yemen to compete for the only ticket to the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals.
