Donate land to remove temporary houses

- The story of people donating land to demolish temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, which seems rare, is happening naturally and warmly. Without noise or formality, they quietly contribute to demolishing dilapidated houses, creating warm homes, with their sharing hearts and the spirit of "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves".

Neighborhood love

In the spacious house of Mrs. Du Thi Phui, An Khang village, Tan An commune (Chiem Hoa), we had a friendly conversation between the house owner and the land donor.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dam, Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tan An commune, said that when she learned that Ms. Phui was supported to demolish her temporary house, she was still hesitant because her old house was located at the bottom of a deep slope and flooded before it rained. Ms. Ha Thi Ban proactively encouraged her and promised to give her land so that Ms. Phui could have a new, safe house.

The land that Mrs. Ha Thi Ban gave to Mrs. Phui is more than 100 square meters wide, with 2 frontages. Mrs. Phui shared that when she became a daughter-in-law in An Khang village, her husband died early, so she raised her children alone. Currently, she lives alone in an old wooden house, her grown children have families and work far away, she lives in the love and care of the neighbors. Even though she lives alone, she has never felt lonely. During the process of building a new house, in addition to being given land, Mrs. Phui also received support from the villagers for labor. The house is a great encouragement for her.

The house of Mrs. Nong Thi Mo, Phia Lai village, Phuc Son commune (Lam Binh) was donated land by Mr. Nong Van Vang (the person pointing) and is in the process of completion.

When asked about giving land to Mrs. Phui to build a new house, Mrs. Ban considered it normal. Mrs. Ban said: “It’s not a pity to lose a little land. Seeing Mrs. Phui have a decent place to live, without leaks when it rains, I feel relieved. Mrs. Phui lives alone, I consider her as a relative in the house. Every time there is a storm, seeing her in an old, leaky wooden house, I feel very worried. Now that the house is completed and Mrs. Phui has moved in, I feel at ease.”

Spread the land donation action

Whether in the countryside or in a bustling urban area, every square meter of land holds a special value, the memories and future of an entire family. For farmers, it can be a vegetable bed, a tree stump, a garden that has been nurtured for generations. For urban residents, it is every inch of land between high-rise buildings and narrow roads. Therefore, the willingness to give up a part of that precious land is a silent sacrifice, a compassion that is materialized into action. Comrade Ma Van Giam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan An commune, said that Mrs. Ban's family not only donated land to demolish the temporary house, but also previously donated nearly 1,000 square meters of land to grow lacquer trees to pave the way for people to travel safely during the rainy and stormy season.

According to information from the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the whole province has 10 families volunteering to donate land to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with a total area of over 1,000 m2 . This action not only arouses the spirit of solidarity but also contributes significantly to the completion of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses as planned. As of May 30, the province has started, is constructing and completed 6,872/6,928 houses, reaching 99.19% of the plan. The whole province has 5 districts that have completed the construction.

Phia Lai village, Phuc Son commune (Lam Binh) has 2 households donating land to demolish temporary houses with a total area of 400 m2 . Mrs. Nong Thi Mo's house was "donated" land by Mr. Nong Van Vang to build a house that is being completed, expected to be completed in mid-June 2025. Mrs. Mo's family's old house was next to a stream, after the flood 2 years ago, it was washed away. Sympathizing with Mrs. Mo's situation, Mr. Nong Van Vang lent her a house inside the village to live. Mrs. Mo has 3 sons, her husband died of a serious illness, one son had a traffic accident and lost his ability to work, and one son went to work far away with no news.

“When I was considered for support under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Mr. Vang decided to give me 280 square meters of land to build a new house. The house was gradually formed with the help of neighbors, people who contributed labor, people who donated land. No one was rich, but everyone loved my family so they supported me enthusiastically,” Ms. Mo emotionally shared.

The movement of donating land to eliminate dilapidated houses has spread like a warm breeze, many examples of land donation have appeared such as Mrs. Ly Thi Dau in Cau Troi village, Yen Son town (Yen Son) who did not hesitate to donate 100 square meters of her family's valuable garden land so that Mr. Dang Van Thang, a poor household in the village, could have a place to build a solid house.

With the same noble gesture, Mr. Trieu Van Phay in Na Co village, Xuan Lap commune (Lam Binh district) was willing to donate 120 square meters of land to two brothers Trieu Duc Luu and Trieu Thanh Loc, who used to live in a dilapidated temporary house in the middle of the forest. For them, not only being rich can you do great things, can you help those around you. Just one meter of land, one day of work, one bag of cement... will be a brick connecting humanity, the foundation for solid houses built from kindness.

New houses are completed one after another, the rickety bamboo fences are replaced by brick walls and sturdy corrugated iron roofs, it is the time when we believe that good and kind things, no matter how small, are enough to make a warm home.
