According to Bleeping Computer, the Anatsa malware has attacked users' Android devices through malware stored on Google Play to steal bank accounts and appropriate users' assets.

Experts at fraud detection company ThreatFabric said the Anatsa malware has been on the rise since November 2023. To date, at least 150,000 user devices have been infected.

Apps containing malicious code

Malicious apps are often found in the top free categories, are implemented at multiple stages, and take advantage of Android accessibility services to bypass security measures.

Accordingly, the 5 malicious applications that ThreatFabric has detected and recommended users to delete include: Phone Cleaner - File Explorer; PDF Viewer - File Explorer; PDF Reader - Viewer & Editor; Phone Cleaner: File Explorer; PDF Reader: File Manager.

ThreatFabric said most of the above apps have been removed from the Play Store, except for PDF Reader.

If detected on the device, the user should take advanced security measures such as changing the account password, enabling two-factor authentication...
