50-year journey of War Remnants Museum

On the morning of September 4 in Ho Chi Minh City, the War Remnants Museum celebrated its 50th anniversary (September 4, 1975 - September 4, 2025), looking back on its journey of welcoming more than 25 million domestic and international visitors, and being an active member of the International Network of Museums for Peace (INMP) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director in charge of managing and operating the Lam Ngo Museum, Hoang Anh, said: "Over half a century, the museum has always affirmed its position as a leading national cultural institution, honored to welcome tens of millions of visitors. Especially recovering early after the Covid-19 pandemic, there were days when the museum welcomed more than 10,000 visitors, mostly international visitors, which affirmed the museum's attractiveness that overcomes all language and cultural barriers. The foundation for that attractiveness is the priceless heritage of memories with more than 20,000 extremely valuable documents, artifacts, and films."

The War Remnants Museum preserves more than 20,000 valuable documents and artifacts from the Vietnam War.

Currently, the War Remnants Museum is entering a new stage of development, with a strategic vision of being a Museum for Peace , proactively transforming memory heritage into cultural strength, a people's diplomacy channel to foster friendship between nations.

On this occasion, the museum opened a special exhibition on Southern Cuisine during the resistance war - a humane perspective on the silent war of survival, where frugal meals became a source of great spiritual strength, nurturing the will of our army and people for the day of total victory.
