Hundreds of thousands of iPhone 17s ordered in Vietnam, demand skyrockets

(NLDO) - The Gioi Di Dong alone has more than 103,000 customers ordering iPhone 17 series, an average of 44 people depositing every second.

According to information, after only about 10-15 minutes of opening the portal for customers to deposit for iPhone 17 series on September 12, the retail chains The Gioi Di Dong,FPT Shop, Di Dong Viet, and CellphoneS were congested and customers could not access the system.

The reason is that the number of visitors has increased many times compared to last year, beyond the forecast. Although the systems have prepared the technical infrastructure to ensure the website operates smoothly, the problem still occurred in the first few minutes.

According to statistics from The Gioi Di Dong , this system alone has more than 103,000 customers ordering iPhone 17 series, of which more than 90,000 customers have placed deposits.

Notably, 80,000 orders were placed within 30 minutes of opening, meaning an average of 44 people placed orders for the new iPhone every second.

Meanwhile, the Mobile World system said that as of 6:00 a.m. on September 13, more than 17,500 customers had registered to make deposits.

Other retailers also recorded iPhone 17 pre-orders that far exceeded expectations, despite the high price tag. The standard 256GB iPhone 17 starts at VND25 million, while the 512GB version is VND31.5 million. The ultra-slim iPhone Air starts at VND32 million for 256GB, up to VND45 million for 1TB. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at VND27.5 million, while the Pro Max goes up to VND64 million for the highest-end version.

The above statistics are incomplete because the Apple Store Online and many other authorized dealers in Vietnam have not announced specific numbers.

The market atmosphere has therefore become particularly vibrant, reflecting the eagerness to own the new generation iPhone early. This is also the first year that Vietnam has been on sale at the same time as the rest of the world, causing demand to skyrocket.

Like previous years, the iPhone 17 Pro Max continues to be the most popular version, while the cosmic orange color of the 17 Pro and Pro Max lines is the preferred choice of users. Retailers said that this year, although Vietnam was included in the group of markets receiving the device early by Apple, the amount of goods distributed was only about 20% compared to last year.

Customers ordering iPhone 17 increased rapidly

Faced with the heat of the new product, retailers said the initial supply in Vietnam was certainly not enough to meet this huge demand.

A representative of Mobile World admitted that the number of customers who have placed deposits has far exceeded the supply capacity, so the system will arrange to return the devices in the order of registration, and at the same time commit to providing the best possible experience.

Other retailers also confirmed that customers who order now will have little chance of receiving the device in the first batch, but will have to wait until the expected delivery in October.

Another issue that worries retailers is the delivery schedule. In previous years, Apple usually delivered the device 3-4 days earlier, but this year, the delivery time is expected to start from the evening of September 17, meaning retailers only have 1 day to prepare.

This could delay the arrival of the iPhone 17 series to stores by about a day, meaning customers will likely have to wait until after September 19 to receive their devices.
