On September 12, information from the Nghe An Department of Education and Training said that the department had just sent a document to the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune, requesting to stop the merger of branch 2 into branch 1 of Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School.

The document stated: The Department of Education and Training has received a petition from parents of students at branch 2 proposing not to merge branch 2 on the grounds that the distance to school is far, posing a potential safety risk to students.

The Department of Education and Training requested the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune to direct Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School to temporarily suspend the merger of branch 2 into branch 1.

The Nghe An Department of Education and Training also requested the Commune People's Committee to continue to direct the school to prepare facilities and other necessary conditions, and continue to propagate and mobilize parents. The merger will be carried out when receiving the consensus of all parents of students of branch 2.

Previously, after the opening of the new school year, parents of more than 140 students of Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School, branch 2 located in Quang Xa hamlet, did not let their children go to branch 1 (main school) because they were worried about safety when having to go through a 4-way intersection with a lot of traffic and the road was prone to flooding.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Chairman of Thien Nhan Commune People's Committee, said that the policy of merging the remote locations into the main school was proposed before this school year to improve the quality of teaching and learning, focus on investment and effectively use resources so that students can study in a centralized environment with better equipment and facilities.

However, due to the reaction of parents and the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, the commune has directed the school to clean the classrooms to continue maintaining branch 2. The school will arrange a schedule to make up for the recent days off for students. In the long term, the commune will mobilize people to agree to merge with branch 1 to ensure better facilities and educational environment.
