Tens of thousands of teachers in Ho Chi Minh City will be trained in artificial intelligence (AI) according to international standards and how to teach Stem in English. The cost will be paid by the city.

Teachers in Ho Chi Minh City will participate in two training programs, including a 24-hour STEM teaching method in English and a 40-hour international standard artificial intelligence (AI) teaching program. Both courses aim to equip teachers with basic knowledge, modern pedagogical skills and practical skills, helping teachers confidently apply STEM to English as well as bring AI into schools, thereby contributing to improving the quality of education .

With the teaching of artificial intelligence (AI), the city determined that it must start with teacher training colleges to have enough resources. In fact, some schools in Ho Chi Minh City have piloted teaching AI to students, but it is still on a small scale. The city's education sector hopes that this activity will soon be implemented formally, with proper investment and a team of officially trained teachers.

Regarding the AI ​​training plan for teachers, Mr. Hieu said that in the short term, it cannot be implemented simultaneously in the entire city with a scale of over 3,500 schools, but will focus on a number of mature units, and gradually expand. The goal is for teachers, in addition to their passion, to have a foundation to teach students, ensuring that students in the center or remote areas have fair and equal access to this knowledge.

When there were 63 provinces/cities, Ho Chi Minh City was the only city that prepared teachers before teaching the natural science program in high schools, instead of having Physics teachers teach Physics, Chemistry teachers teach Chemistry, and Biology teachers teach Biology. That is, teaching Physics - Chemistry - Biology, not teaching natural sciences.

With the teaching of AI and STEM in English, the core goal is to train and develop a team of high-quality managers and teachers, meeting the urgent need for STEM and AI teaching human resources in the new era. Therefore, the courses are designed to be modern, advanced, closely following the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, helping students to easily absorb and apply.
