Professor Katalin Karikó and Professor Anne L'Huillier, two female scientists who received the Nobel Prize this year in the fields of Biomedicine and Physics, were honored through the prestigious L'Oréal-UNESCO Awards for Women in Science in 2011 and 2022.

The L'Oréal Foundation aims to support and empower women around the world, helping them shape their future and make a difference in society. Its work focuses on three main areas: scientific research, creating diversity in beauty, and supporting actions to combat climate change and protect the environment.

Since 1998, the L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Awards programme has continuously created favorable conditions for many female scientists to overcome barriers, helping them develop and join hands to solve the great challenges of our time for the common good of the community.

Over the past 25 years, the Foundation has supported more than 4,100 female researchers from over 110 countries, honoring their outstanding scientific achievements and inspiring generations of young female scientists to pursue scientific careers.
