After more than 3 months and 30 draws without finding a winner, on March 26 (US time), the Mega Millions jackpot found its owner, with the winning numbers being 7, 11, 22, 29, 38 and 4. This is the 8th largest prize in US lottery history and the 5th largest in the history of the Mega Millions game.

The prize will be awarded to the winner in 30 payments, or in a lump sum of $537.5 million.

According to Fox Business , the next Mega Millions drawing will have an estimated jackpot of around $20 million — the starting point for a series of jackpots.

"Lottery fever continues to spread across America," said Gretchen Corbin, president of the Georgia Lottery and director of the Mega Millions Association.

Previously, the Mega Millions jackpot record was $1.602 billion with a winner in Florida on August 8, 2023. The largest prize in US lottery history - the $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot was awarded to a person in California in November 2022.

To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players must match all five white balls plus the yellow Mega ball. The odds of winning are very small, with a ticket buyer having a chance of owning all the correct numbers: 1 in 302.6 million for Mega Millions and 1 in 292.2 million for Powerball.

Mega Millions is currently played in 45 US states, Washington DC and the Virgin Islands.
