To prove that, on July 26 at Trung Vuong Secondary School, the People's Committee of Cua Nam Ward ( Hanoi ) held the opening ceremony of the Cua Nam Harmony exhibition with the theme "Cultural Gateway, Connecting Heritage, Innovation".
At the opening ceremony, Ms. Trinh Ngoc Tram, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Nam Ward, said that the Cua Nam Hoa Hoa Exhibition is not only a cultural and artistic event, but also a profound political and social activity towards the Party Congresses at all levels, contributing to consolidating and fostering people's trust in the path chosen by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.
With the theme "Cultural Gateway, connecting heritage, innovation", the Exhibition opens up a space for deep contemplation of heritage, going back in time to rediscover the values of architectural works imbued with Indochina art right in the ward.
The exhibition, curated by artist Nguyen The Son and his colleagues, focuses on introducing the values of historical and artistic architectural works that have made contributions to the history of Indochina as well as the potential to promote heritage values through art projects.
In addition, the exhibition also introduces documents on the restoration process of architectural works with many cultural and historical values in Cua Nam ward.
The highlights around the clusters of works and documents at the Exhibition are the cluster of images in the unique Indochinese architecture of the former Indochina University, now part of Hanoi National University; the cluster of works also interweaves the introduction of ancient documentary images by curator Nguyen The Son; the cluster of research images by researcher Tran Hau Yen The about the symbol in the Hanoi Citadel during the Indochina period on the forehead of today's Trung Vuong School, formerly Dong Khanh Girls' School.
In addition, there is a cluster of images about the Public Art Project at Cua Nam Flower Garden interacting with an ancient advertising painting from the Indochina period; a cluster of works and images connecting with the architectural heritage of the old Hang Co Station (now Hanoi Station); a cluster of documentary images about the "Palace of Competitions" in the Indochina period about the role and vision of this space in promoting the cultural and creative industry...
“With the existing cultural heritage values, it will be the driving force for Cua Nam ward to promote the cultural industry, turning heritage into a driving force and resource for development.
From there, turn this cultural capital into specific products: from heritage tours, creative spaces, handicraft products to local branding.
We are aiming to build Cua Nam into a creative cultural space, a development model that harmoniously combines conservation and technology application, to promote the cultural industry in the area.
The works at the exhibition are a testament to this spirit of innovation. And this is a sustainable way for heritage to truly “live”, be protected and create new values, contributing directly to economic and social life,” Ms. Trinh Ngoc Tram emphasized.
According to Secretary of the Party Committee of Cua Nam Ward Pham Tuan Long, the constructions, public buildings, mansions, villas as well as valuable housing projects in the area are evidence of the urban development process of Hanoi in the modern period.
With the responsibility of being the location of such heritage works, Cua Nam ward has planned and proposed appropriate solutions, depending on the current usage and historical value, as well as the campus and area that can be used for promotion and introduction.
Currently, Cua Nam ward has coordinated with the Paris Ile-de-France capital region to plan a number of cultural industrial projects, starting with the villas at 46 Hang Bai and 49 Tran Hung Dao, which will be restored in 2024.
“With these exhibition spaces, depending on the scale and area, we have to harmonize the functions and areas so as not to affect the relics. Like the exhibition at Trung Vuong School, it is not only for teachers and students to understand the values that they own, but also for them to appreciate the heritage. But at the same time, it is also for visitors to Hanoi to understand more about the formation and development process of the capital Hanoi,” said Mr. Long.
The exhibition takes place from July 26 to August 5 at Trung Vuong Secondary School.
