Rice price today September 8: Price fluctuates little

Domestic rice prices today remain stable with quiet transactions and high exports.

On the morning of September 8, the domestic rice market did not fluctuate much. Trading was sparse, prices generally remained stable, except for some raw rice varieties that increased slightly in the middle of last week but quickly returned to a flat state.

Rice prices stable, slow transactions

In the Mekong Delta, prices of fresh rice remained basically unchanged from the weekend. IR 50404 rice fluctuated at 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg; OM 18 and Nang Hoa 9 both fluctuated at 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 remained at 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg.

Localities such as An Giang , Can Tho, Dong Thap, and Ca Mau all recorded slow transactions, with farmers offering limited sales and traders buying little.

Raw rice prices increased slightly in the middle of the week and then leveled off.

Last week, some exported raw rice prices increased by 50 VND/kg at times, but by the end of the week, they had stabilized again.

Specifically, IR 504 remains at 7,700 - 7,850 VND/kg; CL 555 fluctuates at 7,750 - 7,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 is at 7,700 - 7,900 VND/kg; OM 380 is in the range of 8,200 - 8,300 VND/kg; OM 18 is still the highest at 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg.

In the finished product group, OM 380 maintained at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, IR 504 at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

Stabilized by-products

By-product prices remained unchanged from the weekend. OM 504 broken rice was purchased at 7,300 - 7,400 VND/kg, while bran fluctuated at 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg.

Retail rice prices remain unchanged

At traditional markets, rice prices remained stable. Nang Nhen rice remained at the highest level of VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai rice at VND22,000/kg; Thai long-grain fragrant rice at VND20,000-22,000/kg; popular Jasmine rice at VND16,000-18,000/kg. Common white rice and Soc rice were around VND16,000/kg, while Japanese rice reached VND22,000/kg.

Exports remain stable

Export rice prices continue to remain stable. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken fragrant rice is traded at 455-460 USD/ton; Jasmine 545-549 USD/ton; 25% broken rice at 367 USD/ton; 100% broken rice 333-337 USD/ton.
