EU and ASEAN join hands for a sustainable planet

On 27 October, the EU-ASEAN Green Diplomacy Week officially opened in Jakarta, Indonesia. The event attracted around 500 participants, including representatives from ASEAN countries, the EU, youth and sports enthusiasts, who ran or walked 5 km together in the “Go Green” kick-off activities.

Ambassador of the EU Delegation to ASEAN Sujiro Seam opened the event, underlining the EU’s commitment to supporting partners, including ASEAN Member States, in the green transition. “This is an opportunity to encourage and motivate individuals, communities and organisations to take stronger actions – to protect, preserve and restore our environment, for now and for future generations,” he said.

The event not only demonstrates the EU's commitment to cooperation with ASEAN but also towards a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Over the years, ASEAN has demonstrated its strong commitment to addressing climate change. This has been done through multi-sectoral dialogues and related activities, with the participation of key partners in various sectors.

The organisation of the Green Diplomacy Week is not only a demonstration of EU-ASEAN cooperation but also part of the EU’s global campaign to promote cooperation on climate change and inspire meaningful action.
