Making up rumors about changing the inspection stamp model, tricking people into transferring money to appropriate it

VTC NewsVTC News31/10/2024

Recently, the bank account of the Department of Registration received amounts of 10,000 - 23,000 VND transferred from personal accounts, most of which did not clearly state the transaction content.

Based on the information about the license plate number recorded in the money transfer content of some vehicle owners, the Department of Registration contacted some vehicle owners and learned that recently, a group of people called the vehicle owners to inform that from October 1, 2024, the Department of Registration will change the inspection stamp model and request that if the vehicle owners want to change the new stamp, they must pay 10,000 VND/stamp and a transportation fee of 23,000 VND to the Department of Registration's account.

At the same time, this group of subjects instructed vehicle owners to access a fake link of the Department of Registration to declare personal information for the purpose of changing the stamp. When vehicle owners access the fake link, they will be at risk of being scammed and having their money stolen.

To prevent the above situation, the Department of Registration has issued a notice to motor vehicle registration units to warn vehicle owners in the management area.

"The Department of Vehicle Registration affirms that there is no requirement to change inspection stamps, no request or notification to vehicle owners about transferring money to perform the service of changing inspection stamps. Any request or notification of money transfer from calls or messages from strange phone numbers (not publicly listed by the Department of Vehicle Registration), vehicle owners absolutely must not transfer money. At the same time, do not access fake links of the Department of Vehicle Registration" , the document emphasized.
