“At the end of 2024, Blue Ocean officially exported the first batch of passion fruit to the Australian market. This is the first Vietnamese enterprise to export passion fruit to this market, which is also our pride. Currently, Blue Ocean is still continuing to produce and bring agricultural products to all over the world ,” informed Mr. Phan Quoc Nam - Sales Director of Blue Ocean JSC. According to Mr. Nam, passion fruit is a competitive product of the enterprise, besides other local agricultural products.

Blue Ocean JSC, a member of Ocean Group, has a factory in Phu Son Lam Ha commune. The company specializes in processing and freezing tropical fruits for export. The factory, with modern technology, was put into operation in October 2024 and continuously produces and consumes thousands of tons of agricultural products.

A representative of Blue Ocean JSC said that in order for fresh passion fruit to be exported to Australia, it is necessary to establish a growing area, growing area code, and packaging facility code approved by the Plant Protection Department and have inspection and supervision from the partner. At the same time, the production stage must ensure the process, standards, and comply with biosecurity requirements. Not only passion fruit, frozen items such as mango, watermelon, dragon fruit, and durian are also strictly monitored and inspected for input quality.

With a total area of 10,000 m2 and advanced technology, the factory is capable of producing and supplying the market with more than 10 thousand tons of products/year. The products are processed from advantageous agricultural products of Lam Dong province, the Central Highlands provinces and the Mekong Delta. All are processed through a quick freezing process and packaged immediately after harvest, helping to preserve the flavor, freshness and natural nutritional value.

Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Thach - General Director of Blue Ocean JSC said: "Building a processing factory in Lam Dong is a strategic step of the company, aiming to optimize the supply chain from raw material areas to production, supplying the domestic market and exporting". According to Ms. Ngoc Thach, passion fruit, avocado, durian and dragon fruit, the four main products of the enterprise, cannot be separated from the large raw material area of Lam Dong province. She affirmed that locating the factory in the middle of the raw material area also helps Blue Ocean to closely connect with farmers, tightening the connection between farmers and enterprises.

In addition to raw material areas of up to hundreds of hectares for growing mango, longan, avocado... Blue Ocean JSC has a raw material area of up to 50 hectares of passion fruit in Lam Dong and Dak Lak . Of which, 25 hectares are organized to meet export conditions to many markets, including Australia and Europe.

Lam Dong has a large area of passion fruit, peaking at over 1,200 hectares, many areas have standardized production with the goal of exporting. This is a large raw material area, the basis for Blue Ocean to expand exports, bringing Vietnamese agricultural products to the Australian market.

Vietnamese passion fruit is allowed to be imported into the Australian market but must comply with biosecurity requirements. For passion fruit, when exporting, it is necessary to implement a number of risk management measures to ensure that the growing area, production area, and production facilities are not infected with pests. Lam Dong currently has 2 passion fruit growing area codes for export with an area of 111 hectares, which are closely monitored by management agencies.

In September 2024, Vietnam coordinated with the Australian Embassy to organize a ceremony to announce the export of passion fruit from Vietnam to Australia. After efforts in negotiation, market opening and close coordination between the two sides, passion fruit became the 5th fruit to be officially exported to Australia after mango, longan, lychee, and dragon fruit.
