Architect Tran Ngoc Chinh (Chairman of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association) said that the merger of Dak Nong, Lam Dong and Binh Thuan is not only a matter of reorganizing administrative boundaries, optimizing resources, and exploiting economic potential, but also a strategic development solution for the southern highlands.

Located at the intersection of the Central Highlands, the Southeast and the South Central regions, Lam Dong province can become an important inter-regional bridge between the inland and the sea. In particular, Lam Dong stands out with high-tech agriculture, tourism and research and education potential. Dak Nong has strengths in energy, minerals and agriculture and forestry. Binh Thuan is the center of marine economy, tourism and renewable energy.

Dr. Hoang Huu Phe and Dr. Le Trung Chon (Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment) raised the issue: Connecting the existing infrastructure systems of the three provinces into a unified entity will require huge capital and a long time. The large difference in infrastructure development level between the three localities will create a big challenge in planning and allocating investment resources in a balanced and effective manner.

Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Trung Luong (former Deputy Director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research) said that the tourism industry will contribute significantly to the economic development of the three provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, and Dak Nong. Each locality has its own characteristics, such as Lam Dong has advantages in resort and ecological tourism; Binh Thuan has sea and island tourism; Dak Nong has a Global Geopark, community cultural tourism, etc.

However, Lam Dong province needs to establish a "New Development Vision" with the position of a new tourism growth pole of the South Central region at the national level. Focus on developing tourism product groups suitable for new market trends including: health care tourism, "healing" tourism, experiential tourism and green tourism. Reposition the value chain of heritage tourism, eco-tourism, rural agricultural tourism, community tourism, event tourism...; promote the development of Net Zero tourism associated with green transformation.
