According to the Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security , trees planted in the middle of the highway pose a potential safety risk, as specialized vehicles have to drive close to the center of the road to water the trees, which can easily lead to collisions. Instead, the Department recommends that only anti-glare nets should be used on highways. At the same time, trees on both sides of the road should be planted far apart to avoid the danger of trees falling during storms.
Currently, many highways in Vietnam plant trees on the median strip to block light and create landscapes. However, with recently put into operation, the main trend is to install anti-glare nets. This solution helps reduce the risk of accidents caused by watering trucks, limits the risk of falling trees during storms and is also applied by many countries to ensure safety and save maintenance costs.
