This year, about 6,900 candidates took the specialized subjects exam, while the quota for specialized classes at 6 high schools was 1,680. The highest competition ratio for specialized 10th graders in Ho Chi Minh City was 1/5.4, at Le Hong Phong Specialized High School. This ratio was 1/4.6 at Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School. In addition, Nguyen Huu Huan, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Mac Dinh Chi, and Gia Dinh high schools all had about 5-6 specialized classes, with competition ratios ranging from 2.3-3.4.

Students taking the entrance exam for specialized grade 10 will take the exam in three basic subjects: Literature, Foreign Language, and Mathematics of the 10th grade entrance exam, along with one specialized subject.
