Overseas Vietnamese players join U23 Vietnam to prepare for Asian tournament

Overseas Vietnamese player Tran Thanh Trung tried his best in the training session with U23 Vietnam, determined to compete for a starting position in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers.

On the afternoon of September 1, U23 Vietnam had a training session in Viet Tri ( Phu Tho ), preparing for the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers.

After successfully defending the 2025 Southeast Asian championship, U23 Vietnam is very confident in achieving the goal of winning a ticket to the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.

The highlight of the training session was the performance of Vietnamese-American player Tran Thanh Trung. He tried very hard, determined to score points with coach Kim Sang Sik.

Before returning to Vietnam, Thanh Trung was a familiar face in Bulgaria's youth teams, from U17 to U21, and was highly regarded by Barcelona scouts as one of Europe's promising midfielders.

U23 Vietnam has home field advantage in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers.

Cong Phuong and his teammates have prepared carefully before the opening match in Group C.

Just play at full strength, U23 Vietnam will do what they need to do, which is win all 3 matches.

This is the second tournament that coach Kim Sang Sik directly leads U23 Vietnam.

In Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 qualifiers, Vietnam U23 will meet Bangladesh U23 (September 3), Singapore U23 (September 6) and Yemen U23 (September 9).
