According to the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC - under the Ministry of Information and Communications ), from June 1, 2023, people can register to use new domain name extensions such as "ai.vn" (artificial intelligence field), "id.vn" (online personal branding) and "io.vn" (digital technology field).
Specifically, the domain name "id.vn" is for individuals who are Vietnamese citizens to register to use to promote their images, products, and personal brands on the Internet through websites, online CVs, and blogs. The domain name "io.vn" is for organizations and individuals to register to use digital technology applications, platforms, and services on the Internet. The domain name "ai.vn" is for organizations and individuals to register to use for activities and services related to the field of artificial intelligence.
Vietnam national domain names expand with 3 new options from June 1, 2023
In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology are potential markets for investment and research. The national digital transformation program until 2025, with a vision to 2030, also clearly states the policy of prioritizing the development of information technology, electronics industry, and artificial intelligence to meet digital infrastructure requirements. The above incentives are adjusted to ensure wide coverage of users, thereby contributing to promoting digital transformation activities that are being widely deployed by the Government . Businesses and people can easily access and own national domain names to apply in real life such as business, opening online stores, building brands... From policies promoting the use of national domain names in particular and domestic online services in general will be developed, people and businesses will have a safe tool and solution to use on the internet environment at low cost.
Depending on the needs, each domain name will be used differently.
In addition, according to Circular 20, the registration fee for most national domain names ".vn" has been adjusted down from 50 - 91.6%, the maintenance fee for ".vn" domain names for some domain extensions has been reduced from 30 - 33%.
The above incentives are adjusted appropriately, ensuring wide coverage of users, thereby contributing to promoting digital transformation activities that the Government is vigorously implementing on a large scale.
