Not only is the number of candidates registering for admission on the system this year higher than last year, but the average number of applications per candidate is also very high.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, as of 5:00 p.m. today, July 28, the time the online registration portal was closed, the ministry's general admission support system recorded a total of 849,544 candidates who had entered their university and college admission wishes, equivalent to 73.2% of the number of candidates registering for the 2025 high school graduation exam.

The high average number of wishes per candidate is a sign of confusion among candidates when applying for admission.

Nationwide, there are 7,615,560 wishes, so on average each candidate registers about 9 wishes.

If universities and colleges still collect according to the current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (20,000 VND/preference), it is estimated that each candidate will have to pay an average of 180,000 VND for the registration fee. Thus, the cost of admission nationwide is estimated at more than 152 billion VND.

According to the explanation of the Ministry of Education and Training, the number of candidates registering for admission in 2025 increased by 115,892 candidates because there were candidates registering for admission to vocational colleges (this year, there are 194 colleges participating in the admission system). It is known that the Ministry of Education and Training is currently asking universities to lower the university admission fee, but this information has not been officially announced.

However, the number of candidates registering for the above wishes will continue to be updated. Currently, there are still some candidates who have submitted their registration information close to the end of the admission period, so the system is continuing to process.

In 2024, the whole country will have 733,000 candidates registering for admission, equivalent to 68.5% of the number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam in the same year.

The number of candidates registering for admission in 2023 and 2022 is more than 660,000 and more than 616,000, accounting for 65.9% and 64.1% respectively compared to the number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam in the same year.
