Ca Mau Sea - New momentum from aquaculture, wind power and tourism

After the merger, Ca Mau province owns a 310 km long coastline, the only coastal province in the country with a special geographical location, with 3 sides bordering the sea. The large fishing grounds and many estuaries create a rich source of seafood for the province, contributing to promoting fishing activities at sea and being an abundant source for the processing and export industry.

Large fishing grounds and rich seafood resources create favorable conditions for the development of marine exploitation.

Along with that, the average sea wind speed measured in Ca Mau sea area is from 6.3-7 m/s at an altitude of 80-100 m, which is very favorable for wind power development, the further offshore, the higher the wind speed. Currently, 14 coastal wind power projects have been put into operation, with a total capacity of nearly 700 MW; 12 projects with a total capacity of more than 830 MW have been approved for investment; 23 projects have had interested investors and are carrying out investment proposal procedures.

The first wind power project was deployed on the sea of Ca Mau, in Hiep Thanh commune.

Not only is it a "gold mine" for aquaculture and clean energy development, Ca Mau sea with its idyllic beauty combined with vast protective forests and mangrove forests is also exploited and developed for tourism .

Ca Mau was approved by the Prime Minister in the Plan to implement the VIII Power Plan and adjust the VIII Power Plan, by 2030, it will put into operation 35 wind power projects, with a total capacity of 2,369 MW. Through research, the province's technical potential for wind power can be developed up to 16,283.8 MW.
