First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed his honor to be present at the celebration, on the occasion of Vietnam's 80th National Day on September 2.

He recalled the article by Cuban national hero Jose Marti about “A walk in the land of the Annamese” published in the magazine Tuoi Vang at the end of the 19th century, talking about the noble Vietnamese people with a brave and hard-working spirit who always fought to find freedom.
Later history showed that Jose Marti's stories still have value when the Vietnamese people have won many resounding victories in the history of the struggle for national independence.
The First Secretary and President of Cuba affirmed that the extraordinary history of struggle and glorious victories of the Vietnamese people are the foundation for the exemplary relationship between the two countries with the unconditional support of the Cuban Revolution.

Cuba is honored to be the first country in Latin America to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on December 2, 1960, and the first country in the world to establish a Solidarity Committee with South Vietnam.
The special relationship that has been formed between Vietnam and Cuba has overcome challenges and become a model of friendship and cooperation, especially at a time when world peace is facing enormous challenges.
Leader Fidel Castro has the immortal saying "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to give its blood", and today, Cuba continues to affirm that those feelings remain intact.
The First Secretary and President of Cuba reviewed the milestones during the 65 years the two countries have stood shoulder to shoulder. Today, the relationship between the two countries is strengthened in all areas.

He highly appreciated Vietnam's steadfast support for Cuba in its struggle to end the embargo and remove Cuba from the unjustified list of countries sponsoring terrorism. He expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their invaluable support for Cuba's food security, especially the recent meaningful donation campaigns.
The bond between the Cuban and Vietnamese peoples transcends all geographical distances and economic conditions to become a lasting and unbreakable spiritual value.
Meanwhile, President Luong Cuong emotionally reviewed important milestones in the history of relations between the two countries.
Sharing the noble ideals of National Independence and Socialism, under the ideological light of Hero Jose Marti, leader Fidel Castro, beloved President Ho Chi Minh and the leadership of the two Communist Parties, many generations of leaders, cadres and people of the two countries have worked hard to cultivate the loyal and pure relationship between Vietnam and Cuba...

The President recalled Cuba's solidarity with Vietnam during the fiercest years of the struggle for national independence. This is a testament to solidarity, valuable support, and a source of great encouragement and motivation for the Vietnamese people.
As Vietnam entered the Renovation period, Cuba made efforts to overcome the special period and carry out the process of updating its economic model. The two countries continued to help each other and share sweet rice and sugar grains.
While Cuba has given Vietnam many valuable livestock breeds, crops, and Covid-19 vaccines, Vietnam has actively supported Cuba in developing rice production, aquaculture, and coffee growing... The two countries also exchanged experiences and lessons on socio-economic development and national defense.
Vietnam always treasures and remembers Cuba's solidarity and sincere support. Vietnam has always attached special importance to its relations with Cuba, constantly consolidating, nurturing and developing comprehensive cooperation.

The President affirmed that the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba have been forged and tested in the most difficult times of each country's revolution and through complicated changes in the world situation. To date, that relationship has remained unchanged and has become increasingly deeper and better.
Vietnamese leaders believe that Cuba will overcome all difficulties and challenges and continue to gain greater victories.
