Journalism in the resistance
On June 21, 1946, Tan An Provincial Party Committee decided to publish Nhat Tri newspaper to mobilize and unite the entire Party and people to fight against the resistance war. And June 21 was recognized as the Traditional Day of Long An Newspaper (formerly), but in reality, press activities in the province began in the 1930s, accompanying the growth of the Party and the revolutionary movement of Tan An and Cho Lon provinces at that time.
A supplement of Long An Newspaper in its "golden" period
Newspapers and secret training propaganda documents such as Liberation, Poor People, Countryside, Fighting, Hammer and Sickle, Labor, People, etc. were published from around 1930-1939, contributing effectively to the revolutionary movement, spreading communism, and popularizing the national language. Before and after the August Revolution , the newspapers Dan Cay, Thong tin Khang Chien, Duong Song, etc. contributed to the implementation of political tasks, creating a vibrant news atmosphere, and encouraging the resistance.
In difficult circumstances, revolutionary journalists overcame all difficulties and shortages to "infiltrate" deep into enemy territory, both producing and fighting. Nhat Tri newspaper in Tan An and Chien Thang newspaper in Cho Lon at that time were considered typical of the two localities. Talking about the press during this period, the book History of Party Newspapers of provinces and cities wrote: "In difficult and fierce circumstances, the revolutionary press force in the early 9-year resistance period of the province had to overcome many difficulties and shortages, especially in professional means, to gradually develop and mature. The first journalists were also pioneering revolutionary soldiers, steadfast and full of enthusiasm for saving the country."

After the Geneva Accords, the newspaper Quyet Tien, which was directly led by the Provincial Party Committee, created trust among the people in the liberated areas. The press during this period always closely followed information on the front line and each page was imbued with the sacrifices of journalists.
Accompanying in building the homeland
When the country was unified, Long An Newspaper was officially born in the Spring of Binh Thin year 1976, affirming the continuation of the tradition of future journalists. At that time, Long An Newspaper was published weekly, 8 pages, with a circulation of 5,000-7,000 copies. In addition to the main newspaper, the newspaper also had supplements such as Football, Long An Weekend, Long An Laughter with high circulation, making it one of the strongest newspapers in the Southern region.
Former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Long An Newspaper - Nguyen Minh Cuong said that under the leadership of Editor-in-Chief Le Van, Long An Newspaper focused on training a team of collaborators as well as attracting many talented journalists inside and outside the province such as Le Dai Anh Kiet, Gian Thanh Son,... The content of Long An Newspaper publications is close to the grassroots, meeting the needs of readers. Long An Newspapers are quite "popular" with readers and this period is considered the "golden age" of the newspaper. With the constant efforts of the journalism team, Long An Newspaper continued to increase the publication period to 5 issues per week, each issue has 12 pages, with 2 color pages. Special issues (end of month publications) were regularly published until later.

In 1978, the Provincial Radio Station (the predecessor of Long An Radio and Television Station) was officially established, broadcasting 3 sessions a day. In 1982, the Station added a Television Room. On September 23, 1995, the Station officially broadcast television with many attractive and practical programs, deeply reflecting the development of the province in all aspects. On August 18, 1998, Long An Radio Station was renamed Long An Radio and Television Station. Many of the Station's programs left a strong impression, receiving the love of the audience until today such as Nhip cau nha nong, Dua qua dang khong, Nghe si tri am, Tri am dong dong,...
As someone who was helped by the Overcoming Dangerous Conditions program, Ms. Cao Thi Hong Nguyet (Phuoc Tan Hung commune, Chau Thanh district) said: “The day I first discovered that I had kidney failure, I almost fell into despair. Long An Newspaper and Long An Radio and Television Station have become two effective channels to propagate the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to the people as well as reflect the people's thoughts and aspirations. The two press units in the province always closely follow and promptly reflect the economic and political situation, the important milestones of the province in the journey of construction and development, such as protecting the Southwest border, exploiting Dong Thap Muoi, ... as well as achievements in economy, culture, social security, digital transformation , ... in the new period.
After the merger, the team of journalists of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station have more opportunities to coordinate together to develop different types of journalism, aiming to improve the quality of activities, building journalism in a modern and professional direction. In the trend of continuous development of journalism in particular and society in general, the team of journalists in the province constantly learns and improves their skills to meet the common requirements of readers and audiences. The application of information technology towards the formation of a multimedia communication model is also focused on. The website baolongan.vn was officially launched in 2015, the website la34.com.vn started operating in 2017. Along with that, digital platforms such as YouTube, fanpage, TikTok are also focused on exploiting to meet the increasing demands of readers and audiences near and far.
Facing historical milestones, the team of journalists of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station continue to promote tradition and solidarity to work together towards the goal of common development of the editorial office, serving the Party Committee and the people of the province./.
