Antony reaches agreement to leave MU

According to The Telegraph, MU and Real Betis reached an agreement to let Antony return to Spain on loan for another season.

This will be the Brazilian star's second consecutive spell with the Andalusian club after an impressive second half of the 2024/25 season. In 26 games for Betis, Antony scored nine goals and provided five assists, helping Manuel Pellegrini's side reach the Europa Conference League final, although they eventually lost to Chelsea.

That form was enough to earn him a welcome return to Villamarin, but for United, the door at Old Trafford is almost closed. Despite costing £82m when he left Ajax in 2022, Antony has only scored five Premier League goals.

Antony is considered one of the most failed contracts in the club's history. While Fenerbahce, Bayer Leverkusen and the Saudi Pro League were ready to roll out the red carpet, Antony firmly chose Betis because of his inspiration to play football and to reunite with coach Pellegrini.

Fenerbahce had agreed to buy him outright for 45 million euros, but Antony turned down the chance to work with Jose Mourinho. Meanwhile, Sporting Director Manu Fajardo admitted: "Every day that passes, we dream more and more of Antony's return. But it all depends on finances, Betis will not do anything reckless."

Multiple sources say that if everything goes smoothly, Antony could sign a long-term contract with Betis after his loan expires. In return, MU will reduce the burden of the wage bill to have more money to cover the transfer fee.
