But for many people, when they are busy worrying about every meal and every piece of clothing, the dream of owning a house, even if it is social housing, is still a distant dream. Recently, another ray of hope was lit when the State Bank announced a preferential loan policy for people under 35 years old to buy social housing. A small door opened, but brought with it many great expectations for the future, where everyone can dream and "touch" a home of their own.
The youngest daughter is not yet 2 years old, the eldest son has cerebral palsy and needs regular treatment. All the burden falls on the husband, who is the main breadwinner in the family, with the highest monthly income of only about 8 million VND.
Rent, electricity and water, even though she has saved as much as possible, still cost more than 1 million/month. The rest is spent on diapers, milk, and medicine for her child. Thinking about owning a social house, Ms. Cang just kept quiet. Because she didn't even dare to dream.
"I'm poor so I don't think about it. If I have the chance and money, I want to have a house here so I don't have to rent one," said Ho Thi Cang, Lao Cai province.
At only 23 years old, Kiet is used to the busy pace of life at the construction site. Every day starts at 6am, sometimes working overtime until the next morning. Every month he saves 7-8 million, the rest he sends home to his parents.
"In short, I will have a house by the age of 28-29, and in long term, by the age of 35," said Le Tuan Kiet, Tuyen Quang province.
"Accumulate knowledge and experience first and you can do an internship at this stage. In the 10-year period after 27-28 years old, you will have to determine whether you will be the boss or an employee. If it is convenient, you will be the boss at 28 years old, after 38 years old is the stage when you start buying a house," said Le Dang Phuc, Hanoi .
Despite having long-term plans for the future, however, for many young people under 35 years old, the dream of settling down is still not easy to "reach".
In order to support this group of people, the State Bank has implemented a preferential loan program specifically for people under 35 years old to buy social housing. In the first 5 years from the first disbursement date, borrowers will enjoy an interest rate 2% lower than the average medium and long-term lending rate in Vietnamese Dong of 4 state-owned commercial banks. The interest rate applied until June 30, 2025 is 6.1%/year. In the next 10 years, the lending interest rate will be 1% lower than the average medium and long-term lending rate of the above banks.
"Customers enjoy a preferential interest rate period of up to 15 years, there has never been a credit package with such incentives, in my opinion, on the market. If customers can access this credit package, it is very reasonable. Young people can completely make a financial plan to own their first home", said Mr. Quach Duy My - Senior Manager of Real Estate Loan Products, VPBank.
Mr. Le Hong Phuc - Deputy General Director of Agribank said: "We have simplified and phased the procedures. Usually, it is phased in 1 year, 2 fixed years to pay principal or interest, but here we will base it entirely on the home buyer's income."
Now, owning a home has become more feasible thanks to preferential loans for social housing. New housing areas are not just reinforced concrete blocks, but are places where happiness is nurtured, where small dreams take flight. And when the dream of owning a home is no longer a distant dream, the belief in the future is closer than ever.
