According to a new survey by Kaspersky, only 28% of users have used AI to plan their travel , but 96% of them are satisfied, of which 44% rated it “perfect” and 52% rated it “good”. Notably, 84% confirmed that they would continue to use AI on future trips, showing the great potential of this technology despite its current lack of popularity.
AI has become a familiar part of life for 72% of survey respondents, up to 88% of those under 35, while only 54% of those over 54 have used it. The most common application is information search (76%), followed by work (45%) and learning (40%). However, when it comes to travel, less than a third of people take advantage of AI.
Those who use AI for travel often use it to research destinations, recommend events, choose accommodations (66%), restaurants (60%) or find tickets (58%). AI also saves time for families with young children when preparing for a trip. However, direct bookings using AI are less common: 45% book rooms, 43% book tickets and 38% book restaurants.
A remarkable 45% of respondents turn to AI for visa and immigration advice, but this is risky because AI can create “hallucinations”, giving false but convincing information, once causing an Australian writer to miss an international flight.
Vladislav Tushkanov, Head of Kaspersky AI Technology Research Center, said that AI is changing the role in life, increasingly helping users save time and make personalized choices. However, the level of accuracy still needs to be considered, because in the end, humans are the ones making the decisions.
From this survey, it can be seen that AI has not been fully exploited in tourism, but the growth potential is huge. As technology improves in reliability, AI can become a powerful “assistant” to help tourists plan their journey, choose services and optimize their experience, provided that users remain proactive and alert to automated recommendations.
This survey was conducted by Kaspersky's market research center in cooperation with research service provider Toluna in the summer of 2025. The survey was conducted on 3,000 people from 15 countries (Argentina, Chile, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates).
