250 athletes compete at the 39th National Road and Mountain Cycling Championship

VHO - On the morning of July 28, the 39th National Road and Mountain Cycling Championship officially opened in Binh Duong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of more than 250 athletes from 12 units with strong cycling movements across the country.

The tournament has the participation of 250 athletes.

The tournament is organized by the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with the Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation, taking place from July 28 to August 7.

The road cycling event is held on roads in Binh Duong, Hoa Loi, Ben Cat, Tan Uyen wards and Bau Bang, Phu Giao, and Bac Tan Uyen communes.

Meanwhile, the mountain bike events were held for the first time in Dau Tieng commune - a locality far from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, marking an effort to innovate and expand the space for sports competitions to the suburbs.

Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports Cao Van Chong delivered the opening speech of the tournament.

Athletes compete in a total of 28 events, divided equally between men and women. Men's events include 40km individual points, 40km individual time trial, 70km team time trial, 500m speed, cross-country relay (XCP), individual and team Olympic cross-country (XCO)...

Meanwhile, the women's event includes 30km individual points, 30km individual time, 50km team time, 90km individual and team mass start, individual downhill... Immediately after the opening ceremony, the racers entered the exciting competition in the 40km men's and 30km women's points events.

Before the tournament took place, the preparation work was closely coordinated by the organizing committee with related localities. The advance survey team carefully reviewed the infrastructure and assigned tasks scientifically and methodically.

With experience in organizing many national and international sporting events before, both Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong have demonstrated professionalism in management, ensuring safety and professional quality for this year's tournament.

The National Road and Mountain Cycling Championship is not only an important sporting event in the national competition system, but also contributes to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people, promoting the image, tourism potential and new look of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger.

At the same time, this is also an opportunity for units to review their forces, test the athletes' performance and select excellent racers, preparing for international competitions, including the 33rd SEA Games held in Thailand at the end of this year.
