Yen Bai opens the 2023 Mong Panpipe Performance Festival and To Day Flower Festival

The ceremony was attended by leaders of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council; the Government's Ethnic Committee; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives of a number of central agencies; leaders of Yen Bai province, a number of northern mountainous provinces; a large number of people and tourists from near and far.

This is an important event organized at the provincial level, aiming to honor and widely promote two intangible cultural heritages: "The Art of Khen" and "The Art of using beeswax to create patterns on fabric" of the Mong people in Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau and Van Chan districts.

At the ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced and awarded certificates to include the art of the Mong people's panpipe and the art of using beeswax to create patterns on fabric of the Mong people in Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau and Van Chan districts in the list of national intangible cultural heritages.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan affirmed: The ceremony to announce the Decision and receive the certification of two national intangible cultural heritages today is an opportunity to honor the cultural value of the heritage, as well as to express gratitude for the silent and persistent efforts of the community and artisans in preserving and promoting the value of the heritage; at the same time, promote the responsibility of passing on heritage between generations and practicing heritage in the community, so that the heritage continues to spread today and tomorrow; "turning heritage into assets" to serve the process of economic , cultural and social development, improving the material and spiritual life and happiness index of the people of all ethnic groups in the province.

Special art program at the festival opening night

At the Festival, people and visitors witnessed a parade showing unique cultural features, with the participation of 250 actors; watched the panpipe dance performance of more than 1,000 artisans and students. Especially, they enjoyed the special art program with the theme "Sound among the clouds" including 3 chapters: "Aspiration for the panpipe", "Echo in the clouds" and "The panpipe calling for spring" by many famous artists, singers and artisans, actors, and students.

Coming to Mu Cang Chai this time, visitors can also experience the "cultural space of the Mong ethnic group", beautiful photo exhibitions of Mu Cang Chai, Van Chan, Tram Tau districts; participate in paragliding activities at Khau Pha pass and experience unique tourist activities during the season of To Day flowers (a type of wild peach blossom) blooming bright red on the hillsides, giving the highlands of Mu Cang Chai the most brilliant new coat of the year.
