Modern editorial office model.
Born in a very special context, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has become a “witness”, a “historian” to record for future generations the great historical turning points and glorious victories of our nation. That is a nation that not only defeated the world’s leading powers, but also crushed all plots that harmed national interests and national sovereignty. Not only that, the press that was “conceived” and forged through the storms of bombs and bullets – both on the fierce battlefield and on the increasingly sophisticated, complex, and unpredictable information front – has become a sharp weapon on the political and ideological front, as well as contributing to promoting the continuous progress of society. Living, working and contributing in that historical context, many writers – both journalists and soldiers – used their heart and soul, even their blood, to write articles, to record valuable images and films with strong impact, to appeal to the spirit of patriotism, the spirit of self-sacrifice for independence, freedom and national unity in every Vietnamese citizen. Many of them remained forever on the battlefield, using their blood to color the tradition of Vietnam’s revolutionary press.
Continuing the extremely glorious and proud tradition of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, today's generation of journalists is not afraid of difficulties and hardships, spreading out to all regions to promptly reflect all aspects of the country's economic , political, cultural and social life. Many of them have rushed into security hotspots, dangerous areas such as natural disasters and epidemics to have the fastest and most accurate information on all related developments. In particular, many investigative reporters have exposed many shocking truths behind the flashy appearance of trillion-dollar enterprises, million-dollar deals but full of violations; or organizations hiding under the guise of charity for the disadvantaged, but embezzling charity money; or anti-cultural behaviors at places of religious practice that have shaken public opinion... But not stopping there, in order to "use beauty to eliminate ugliness", the press has also increased propaganda about good models and typical examples in all fields; At the same time, strengthen the fight against distorted and hostile arguments, and protect the Party's ideological foundation. In addition, the press also opens a door for mutual understanding and cultural exchange between nations; at the same time, it is a channel to promote the image of a beautiful, peaceful Vietnam with friendly and hospitable people to friends around the world.
In the face of hardship and danger, journalists who go to war are always ready to sacrifice so that the news can "live". They themselves have traded their youth, their health, and even their lives so that today's generation of journalists can hold their pens in peace, independence, freedom, prosperity, happiness, and to further appreciate and be grateful for the contributions and sacrifices of previous generations. In particular, living and working in a peaceful country in a world full of turmoil and conflict requires today's journalists, before holding their pens, to be patriotic and responsible Vietnamese citizens; then they can be journalists, but they must be journalists with professional ethics, with a pure purpose in their work, and always respect the truth. Only then will each article not simply reflect information, but also contain meaningful messages.
To carry out the mission of journalism on the ideological and cultural front in the current context, it requires that the creation of journalistic works must be compared to the creation of a work of art. Because there is an opinion that journalistic works are the product of cultural creativity, they contain miracles that sometimes cannot be perceived by reason. Creating journalistic works is a feat and after the work is completed, it will be sent to readers as a message to influence people's thoughts and emotions. However, before answering the question "how to write" well and attractively, the writer must answer very "classical" questions: write for whom? Write for what? President Ho Chi Minh once emphasized: If even for propaganda purposes, a work helps and encourages the People in the fight against injustice, then it is a work of true meaning.
Revolutionary press must contribute to creating consensus and great combined strength for the Vietnamese revolution in the current context (In photo: Reporter of Thanh Hoa Newspaper (now Thanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio - Television Station) working in Dien Bien province, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory).
The mission of the Vietnamese revolutionary press is to serve the revolutionary cause of our nation and our people. Therefore, whether it is a work of propaganda and information; or a work that demonstrates depth of knowledge, has sharp analysis and evaluation and is expressed in vivid and attractive language... in the end, it must still aim to serve the Fatherland, contributing to the revolutionary cause of our people. In particular, after nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process under the leadership of the Party, "our country has never had such a foundation, position, potential and international prestige as today", to open up great opportunities to bring the country to rise "shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the five continents". On this glorious new historical journey, more than ever, the press needs to reposition its role and position, to not only be a "historical companion", but also a "loyal secretary of the times".
Our Party has determined that the press is an important part of the Party's ideological and cultural work and is under the direct leadership of the Party. The press is both the voice of the Party, the State, socio-political and professional organizations, and a forum for the people. The press actively propagates Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, the Party's guidelines and viewpoints, the State's policies and laws; encourages the entire Party and the entire people to successfully carry out the cause of innovation, for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization. This is a noble mission and also a heavy task for the press. The question is: What should the press do to contribute to creating unanimity and great combined strength for the Vietnamese revolution in the current context?
The answer, I think, has been there since the beginning, with the birth of the first revolutionary newspaper and has been further developed and nurtured over the past century. That is, the Vietnamese revolutionary press, in any circumstances, must truthfully inform about the situation of the country and the world, in accordance with the interests of the country and the people. Propagating, disseminating, contributing to building and protecting the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, the achievements of the country and the world according to the principles and purposes of the press and publishing agencies; contributing to political stability, socio-economic development, improving people's knowledge, meeting the healthy cultural needs of the people, protecting and promoting the fine traditions of the nation; building and promoting socialist democracy, strengthening the great national unity bloc. The press must become a forum for the people, reflecting and guiding public opinion; Actively discover and set examples of good people, good deeds, new factors, and advanced models; fight against violations of the law and negative phenomena in society. In particular, the press must contribute to preserving the purity and developing the Vietnamese language and the languages of Vietnam's ethnic minorities. At the same time, expand mutual understanding between countries and peoples, participate in the cause of the world's people for peace, national independence, friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development; fight against all thoughts and actions that harm national interests, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
