The newly established Vinh Thong Ward was established on the basis of merging Vinh Thong Ward, Phi Thong Commune and My Lam Commune, with a natural area of 95.89 km2 and a population of more than 55,000 people. Deputy Commander of Vinh Thong Ward Military Command Nguyen Viet Cuong said: “Ensuring continuous and effective military and defense tasks is the top requirement when implementing the arrangement of administrative units and local government at 2 levels. With a large area, large population, close to the administrative - political center of the province, immediately after the merger, the Ward Military Command focused on consolidating barracks, utilizing the old headquarters for use; perfecting the organization and staffing, strictly maintaining combat readiness, building a regular order, training discipline, ensuring good performance of tasks”.

After the arrangement, the headquarters of the Vinh Thong Ward Military Command was located in Ta Tay Quarter; at the same time, 2 militia posts were maintained at the Vinh Thong Ward Military Command barracks and the old My Lam commune. This arrangement facilitated the unit to carry out its tasks, closely coordinate with the Ward Police to implement Decree No. 03/2019/ND-CP of the Government on coordination between the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security in protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety, fighting and preventing crimes and performing national defense tasks.
The Vinh Thong Ward Military Command plays a core role in advising and organizing the implementation of military and defense work. The unit proactively builds, supplements, and completes combat readiness plans in accordance with local characteristics, ensuring timely response forces, especially during holidays, Tet, and important events. Comrade Nguyen Viet Cuong said: "The unit focuses on building, reviewing, and supplementing militia and self-defense forces. Militia posts maintain headquarters, are on standby for combat, and coordinate with police forces to patrol and guard, especially during peak periods serving party congresses at all levels."

Despite the old barracks, the collective of officers and soldiers of the Vinh Thong Ward Military Command strive to maintain order and neatness in management and activities. Squad leader of Vinh Thong Militia Post, Nguyen Quoc Trung, previously worked at the My Lam Commune Military Command, is now assigned as squad leader. “The workplace is further from home, about 7km away, and I have to be on duty 24/7, but with the responsibility of a discharged soldier returning to the locality, I try to overcome difficulties, maintain troop management, clean the barracks, ensure 100% on-duty, and be ready to support the police force in case of emergency situations,” said Trung.
Increasing production is also a bright spot of the Vinh Thong Ward Military Command, contributing to improving the lives of officers and soldiers. Regular militia soldier Mai Duy Canh said: “We maintain a green, clean, and beautiful barracks; take advantage of growing vegetables and raising chickens to improve meals. We encourage and support each other, build a united collective, and are determined to complete all tasks well.”
With the spirit of solidarity and responsibility, the Vinh Thong Ward Military Command continues to strengthen its grasp of the situation, promptly advise local Party committees and authorities to effectively carry out military and defense work, contributing to maintaining local stability, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development, and improving people's lives.
