Dr. Nguyen Van Diep, General Director of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company, shared that the Philippines has imported 460,000 doses of vaccine and evaluated its safety and effectiveness very well. This time, the Philippines continues to import an additional 340,000 doses of vaccine, demonstrating their confidence in the AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine. The company regularly contacts partners in the Philippines, reports and directly exchanges with leaders of the Philippine Ministry of Agriculture on the situation of vaccine use.

In the Philippines, the vaccine is still in the process of being registered and monitored for use by the Philippine Department of Agriculture, so its circulation is more limited than in Vietnam. Regulatory agencies in the Philippines all rate the vaccine as very good in terms of safety and effectiveness. However, widespread use of the vaccine in the Philippines is still limited due to their registration and monitoring process. In addition to the Philippines, AVAC is also targeting other markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia and some African countries. The company is registering in India, Malaysia, Nepal, Myanmar... In Vietnam, the AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine has also been widely used, with more than 4 million doses supplied and receiving very positive feedback from large farms. The company currently has about 1.5 million doses in stock. Vietnam has a new strain of African swine fever (a hybrid of type 1 and type 2). The current vaccine only effectively protects against type 2, not fully protects against the hybrid strain. However, AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company is researching a new vaccine to deal with this hybrid strain, expecting to have a registered product by 2026. Vaccine development always lags behind virus mutations, but this is still the most effective epidemic prevention tool today.

To suit small and medium-sized livestock households, in September 2025, AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company will launch a vaccine with a specification of 5 doses/bottle, for small livestock households to be convenient, economical and avoid waste.

Professor Emeritus, Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong, President of the Vietnam Veterinary Science and Technology Association, said that this event represents three important values: science and technology; socio- economics and international cooperation. As a former business owner and exporter of many types of vaccines, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong said that the Philippines' second import shows that they have tested and proven the effectiveness, and have confidence in the African swine fever vaccine produced by Vietnam.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong, to raise livestock safely, two important solutions are needed: biosafety and vaccine use. Large enterprises have many conditions to implement biosafety, and for household livestock, vaccine use is considered a key solution. When there is an epidemic, livestock farming often applies isolation and destruction solutions. This is a risk for the livestock industry. With diseases that do not have specific treatments, having a vaccine to prevent the disease is even more important.
