China is currently the largest export and import market for fruits and vegetables of Vietnam.

According to the Center for Industry and Trade Information ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), in October 2024, Vietnam imported 97,799,111 million USD worth of fruits and vegetables from the Chinese market. In the first 10 months, Vietnam imported over 794 million USD from this market, accounting for more than 42% of the total fruit and vegetable import turnover and increasing by 24.18% over the same period in 2023. Next are the US, Australia, Myanmar markets...

Preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs also show that the import turnover of fruits and vegetables in October 2024 reached nearly 211.77 million USD, a slight decrease of 0.07% compared to September 2024 but a sharp increase of 30.8% compared to October 2023.

In September, fruit and vegetable imports increased largely due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi , which limited domestic vegetable supply. In October, Vietnam's growing regions harvested new crops of vegetables, and winter vegetables officially entered the season, resulting in a more abundant supply of fruits and vegetables.

In the first 10 months of 2024, fruit and vegetable imports reached over 1.87 billion USD, an increase of 15.7% compared to the first 10 months of 2023.

On the other hand, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association estimates that the export turnover of fruits and vegetables in 2024 is expected to reach over 7 billion USD, an increase of more than 25% compared to 2023. This will be a new record for this export group.

Similar to imports, China will also be Vietnam's largest export market. The item that brings export turnover to Vietnam is durian.
