An Cuu ward police took statement from suspect Nguyen Hoang Huy

Previously, at the end of July 2025, public opinion was stirred by information on the Fanpage “Tin Viet - Cam” about a 5-year-old girl being kidnapped in broad daylight in Phu Hoi ward (old Thuan Hoa district). The girl was thrown onto the street and then run over by a car, breaking her arm, with blurry, edited images.

The fake story caused public outrage and confusion, causing many people to worry about the security situation in the area. This fabricated information was created to call on people to transfer money to "support" through the personal account provided by the subject.

Faced with the level of negative impact, An Cuu Ward Police coordinated with the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department to investigate.

The investigation results showed that the entire story was fabricated and sensationalized to call for charity money. In reality, there was no kidnapping incident in Hue City; even the location mentioned as “Ben Nghe Gate, Phu Hoi Ward” did not exist because Phu Hoi Ward was dissolved on July 1, 2025. The names and addresses related to the “victim’s family” were all false information.

In early September 2025, the authorities identified the person behind the fanpage "Tin Viet - Cam" as Nguyen Hoang Huy (born 2002, residing in Gia Lai province).

At the police station, Nguyen Hoang Huy admitted to staging the scenario of the girl being kidnapped, fabricating the story, cutting and pasting images from many sources on the internet, creating a fake scene to increase the credibility of the false post. He tricked many people into transferring “support” money into his account, appropriating more than 80 million VND.

Currently, An Cuu Ward Police are consolidating the case file to strictly handle it according to the provisions of law.
