Politburo member Phan Dinh Trac visits and works in Hungary

The delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Politburo member Phan Dinh Trac had many meetings and exchanges with Hungarian agencies.

From June 8-13, a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity, and Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, visited and worked in Hungary.

The delegation had meetings and discussions with Permanent Vice President of the National Assembly Marta Mátrai, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People's Procuracy Tibor Ibolya, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Illés Boglárka, Deputy Minister, Secretary of State for EU Affairs, Head of the Hungarian Affairs Committee of the Fidesz Party Barna Pal Zsigmond, Chairman of the Socialist Party Imre Komjáthi, Chairman of the Workers' Party Gyula Thurmer.

The delegation laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Zalaegerszeg city and had a working session with the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Socialist Party of Zalaegerszeg city; met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Hungary.

Comrade Phan Dinh Trac and the Hungarian side informed each other about the situation in each country, about bilateral relations and relations between our Party and Hungarian political parties; discussed a number of international and regional issues of mutual concern; experiences, guidelines, policies and measures in the fields of corruption prevention and control, judicial reform and law-making, cooperation between the Supreme Procuracy of the two countries and cooperation between localities; and proposed major directions to promote Vietnam-Hungary cooperation in the coming time.

Leaders of political parties, the National Assembly, agencies of the Hungarian Government and the Zalaegerszeg city government welcomed and highly appreciated the visit of the high-ranking delegation of our Party to Hungary on the occasion of the two countries organizing many activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1950 - 2025) and right after the very successful visit to Vietnam by Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his wife last May.

The Hungarian side affirmed that it attaches great importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Vietnam; considers Vietnam a loyal, trustworthy and important partner in the Eastward policy; and expressed the wish that the two countries take advantage of each other's strengths to expand and deepen bilateral relations in all fields; take advantage of the great opportunities brought by the EVFTA to increase bilateral trade turnover to 2 billion USD in the coming time. You highly appreciate the Vietnamese community in Hungary for its contribution to Hungary's development and pledge to create all favorable conditions for the community to fully integrate into the host country.

The leaders of the ruling FIDESZ party, the Hungarian Socialist Party and the Hungarian Workers' Party affirmed that, despite their different political tendencies, they all agreed to support further strengthening all-round relations with Vietnam and the Communist Party of Vietnam. The Chairman of the Socialist Party expressed his impression of the visit to Vietnam last May and affirmed that he would implement the agreements reached during the visit. The leaders of the FIDESZ and Workers' Parties all hope to soon send delegations to visit Vietnam to strengthen party-channel relations with our Party.

Comrade Phan Dinh Trac affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam highly value the good traditional friendship between the two countries; expressed gratitude for the sentiments and valuable support and assistance that the Hungarian government and people have given to Vietnam in the two previous resistance wars as well as in the cause of national construction and development today; assessed that the relationship between the two countries has had many positive developments in all fields, especially since the upgrading of relations to Comprehensive Partnership in 2018; said that there is still much room and potential to promote cooperation in all fields, the two countries need to strive to increase bilateral trade turnover to 2 billion USD in the coming time.

At the meeting with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Hungary, comrade Phan Dinh Trac informed the people about the country's outstanding achievements in the fields of economic development, foreign affairs and the major policies of the Party and State on the revolution of streamlining the apparatus, breakthroughs in science and technology development, digital transformation, private economic development, promoting institutional improvement, international integration, new legal policies such as the Housing Law, Land Law, Nationality Law, etc.; at the same time, he answered questions and thoughts, aspirations of our overseas Vietnamese in Hungary related to the issue of Vietnamese nationality, online Vietnamese classes, the right to vote of Vietnamese people living and working abroad, the twinning between Nghe An province and Zalaegerszeg city where the statue of President Ho Chi Minh is located.
